iggy got robbed.... all of his dunks were better than vince's arm in the net.... that behind the back board dunk should go down as the best dunk of all time.... he hit his head the first time.....

D-Mass said:Great job by both guys...I also believe AI2 deserved it, but come on...a guy of Nate's height jumping over ANYTHING is hardly just theatrics. That's quite a feat. Give him SOME credit.

Just have everyone go at it and let the best dunk or best dunks win. Not this round by round stuff. I bet Warrick had better dunks to do that we never saw.
Insomniacal Fan said:I didn't think it should have come to a dunk-off, Andre's 2nd round second dunk did not deserve a 10, though his off the back of the backboard dunk was the finest of the night.
Andre's dunkoff dunk was better executed, but it's the one that goes down that counts.
As far as theatrics go, if all we wanted to test was athleticism, we'd just rate each player by his vertical.
The contest was interesting, and though I admit to pulling for the little guy to win, this isn't the olympics, it's a pretty informal competition rated on what each judge finds most impressive.

"That was a great dunk contest, but a HORRIBLE ENDING. NAte did some nice dunks at his size but WAY too many attempts.
Iggy should have won it easily. Judges were just AWFUL in this."
Non-robbed side:
Iggy's last danuk wasn't really great. Iggy had ONE gGREAT dunk. Maybe 1 more was pretty good but hteest was average.
Nate's dunks were OVERALL good beause they all gave something different plsus look at his height. Not many people can do that. At Nate's size, some of the dunks Iggy did, Nate could do, and he is 7 inches smaller!
So, now after I think about it, I dont think he did get robbed. Great performance either way. Great show.

I've been watching the Slam Dunk conversation for years now, and I've never seen the judges conferring with each other before revealing their votes the way they did there; it's like they were trying to figure out how many points not to give Iguodala.
That, and just the idea that somebody who literally missed twenty attempts won the dunk contest doesn't sit right with me: eight misses on his last "regulation" dunk, fourteen misses on his "sudden death" dunk. I'm disappointed that the best Slam Dunk Contest (from a competitive standpoint) that I've ever seen live had to end like that...
6th said:He didn't need it later. Nate getting a 50 for jumping over Spud was all theatrics. That was not a 50 dunk, nor should his last dunk have gotten a 47 when he had 14 tries at it.
That's not an argument. Of course it doesn't matter; nothing that takes place during All-Star Weekend matters... Has ever mattered... Will ever matter... The game of basketball, itself, does not "matter"... Whether or not it matters was never a bone of contention in the first place, nor does it change the fact that Iguodala got jobbed.captain bill said:Wow...if only it mattered...

It was still a nice dunk though...

When a guy gets literally twenty shots at it, there's no doubt, in my mind, that the judges had made up their mind to give it to him, no matter what.
6th said:Yes, they both showed off, and Iggy showed that he was the MUCH better dunker. Only problem is, he did not get the trophy for it.
It reminds me of Gerald Wallace when he got jobbed. And he has not been back since. Don't blame him. And, I won't blame Iggy if he never participates again.![]()
I agree that Iggy didn't get jobbed, but the dunk contest's retry rules make it a complete joke. Not to mention it was pretty ridiculous that some of the judges changed their scores on his last dunk to force the dunk off. I think one or two 9s changed to 8s if I remembered correctly. I watched it on the NBA channel after I knew the result and I kept thinking "How does this guy win?" the whole time.SacTownKing4Life said:From a fans standpoint that's fine. However, the rules state you have unlimited tries, and however many tries you take shall no affect the score of the dunk. From what has been shown to us as the rules.
