Time to sit Stoudemire for season
By Marty MacNeal

It has been difficult to believe the Phoenix Suns would allow star forward Amare Stoudemire to return to play this season, given his immense value to the franchise. Stoudemire is coming back from microfracture surgery, and the Suns can look at the experiences of Chris Webber and Penny Hardaway among others to know this is a delicate rehabilitation.

Stoudemire returned last week, just a couple of weeks after complaining about pain, and now he has been shut down indefinitely. The time for his reactivation should be next season. There is no reason his future should be placed in jeopardy, especially after the existing signs of pain and swelling.

It appears from the outside that the Suns bowed to the pressure of Stoudemire's desire to return. And that's surprising because doing so also placed their franchise in jeopardy.
