In "Kings Notes" on Sports Page C3 Sunday, it was reported that center Loren Woods' one-year, $950,000 contract is not guaranteed until training camp ends. Only a portion of Woods' contract is not guaranteed. Woods is guaranteed $300,000, including a $100,000 advance.

So let me get this straight, if Woods doesn't pan out(which hopefully doesn't happen), but if he is sent packing at the end of training camp, we're out $300,000??

Sounds like it. My interpretation:

Gave him $100 k already (or will give it to him at the start of camp)
Makes another $200 k during camp, no matter how it turns out
Earns the remaining $650 k if he makes the team.

I'm o.k. with that deal. The guy is 7' 2" and we don't have any kind of rebounding big men, only a 6' 7" tweener PF who gets our boards so Woods should look like a stud!

With Woods not really being guaranteed, there are 13 roster spots already taken. Then who knows if one of Potapenko/Hart/Corliss are dealt to make it 12.

If all three bigs show well to make the team, I want and hope that can be done.

Send Potapenko off to Minnesota.

Well, I am hoping they keep 15 guys this year and send some guys like Ronnie and Justin or Louis down to the D-league. Especially since the team in fairly close to where I live.

Yeah, would be nice if Woods makes it. There are 17 on the roster now including non-guaranteed. Be suprised if Petrie keeps 15 tho' so 3-4 seem like they are gone by end of camp. hmmm... wonder who.... my "core" players shown in bold (updated 9/13)

Well, I agree with that about Price. I've really liked what I've gathered on the guy. Especially his defensive ability and potential. Petrie/Muss/Cooper are quite high on him. I think Price sees semi-regular time during the year - much more time than last season, at least.

Price has a guaranteed salary, as well.

Also, Cruz has been directly involved with the summer league scene the last couple years (that I know of).

Yep, these two are there as well. If Price can backup Bibby then Hart and "Pooh" become expendable?

I think Hart if he stays mostly won't play much, but he'll be there as an extra long defender and ball-handler. Jeter I don't think makes the team.
