Bee Kings Notes: Enthusiastic practice earns Kings a free day

Taylor I believe also falls into the catagory of minimum contracts where the league picks up part of his tab. Could be wrong.

Kings113, what one roster spot are you refering to? There are seventeen players on the roster and fifteen have at least partial guarantees. IMHO, the only three, outside of Admunson and Williams, on the bubble are Hart, Woods and Price. Price I would put as doubtful to be cut. Woods is a wash salary wise and Hart has a sizable chuck of change coming his way.

That's about right. I really hope Price shines and beats out Hart. While we pay Hart $1.6M this year and Potato $3M or so and both come off the books at the end of the year, as all of you are saying, it would suck if these 2 would prevent the youngsters from sticking. It would be great if we could do a 2 for 1 trade and free up at least 1 spot on the roster if not trade for picks next year to free up space.

Taylor was making $10M in New York so for signing him for around $1M vet min is like 90% off, cannot beat that. I'm sure he stays. We were very reluctant to giving Woods guaranteed $, so I think he is just around to see if Williams/Amundson can outplay him and take the spot. Without any trades and trading away Potato and/or Hart, basicly Williams/Amundson/Wood are fighting for 1 roster spot and all are around the same price so do you go with a NBA scrub or a young hungry youngster with lots of upside? I'd go with the youngins myself, you need to bring in youth each year and big guys take some more time to develop. Look how good Brad came along in his NBA career being a undrafted big man!!! :D

Why would the NBA be paying part of his salary????
I could be mistaken. But if a player has enough years in (9, I think) and signs for the minimum, the league pays a portion of his salary. I would have to look at that site that VF21 usually refers, to refresh on the details.

edit: Wrong about some of the details, like years. Bottom line is the Kings only pay what a 2nd year player makes minimum, the league pays the rest. See Larry Coons Salary Cap FAQ, #11.

I see Taylor due to make $9,750,000 this year by NY. We are only paying him $1M so that's one heck of a deal.

And man I sure hate how players get shown the big bucks and can just go through the motions. I hope this changes as NY has been devasted by taking on huge contracts with players being a shell of themselves and still getting the big bucks.

YUP, man did they screw up, but look to be dumping all kinds of $ after this season:

Yeah Isiah really screwed things up didn't he??? I wish we could do this much shopping next year. This TDOS was so weak from a Kings perspective!!!

Uh, they are dropping over half their salary and are still over the cap. They aren't doing any shopping.

Edit - I am partially colorblind - is that a team option on Williams? If so, that helps....

Yes, it's a team option.

My bad. Thanks.

You know, they really should put sybmols in tables like that, not color code everything, for those of us that are red-green deficient. It just stinks trying to read some of these things....
