Arrow points to Kings' Miller

Chris Kaman and Brad Miller on a hunt, coming soon.

Maybe.

At the very least, the 7-footers who banged against each other for positioning at Arco Arena might hook up some summer day and fire off some bows and arrows. Before Friday, neither center realized the bow affection the other man had. Kaman was intrigued to learn from Mike Lamb and Grant Napear of KHTK 1140 during a midcourt radio interview two hours before the tip that Miller also is into shooting things with Errol Flynn weaponry.

One difference. Miller fires bows into four-legged living things in the woods. Kaman and his buddies have a tendency to use bows off the balcony of their Redondo Beach home and nail the top of a neighbor's roof.

"I found out that it's illegal to do that," Kaman said. "Police came to my door. I've been shooting less and less."

It's no wonder the man goes by "The Big Silly."

Though Kaman had a career-high 25 points and 13 rebounds, Miller had the last say, his late jumper providing the necessary cushion on his way to 26 points to drop Kaman to 0-11 lifetime against the Kings.

Hello, old friend
Jason Hart went against Sam Cassell every day in practice as a rookie with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Now in his first campaign with the Kings, Hart checked Cassell on Friday, with Cassell, never short of confidence, muttering repeatedly "It's comin'," referring to a flurry of shots. Cassell had 28 points, but his late three hit the front of the rim.

"I had a hand in his face, and he missed," Hart said, grinning. "He's a silent assassin. Worked against him every single day, and he was great for me."

Said Kings coach Rick Adelman, "I thought Jason did a great job."

Elton a Brand(ed) MVP?
Elton Brand of the Clippers is in the midst of his finest season, with the seventh-year power forward out of Duke averaging 24.6 points, a career high, and 10.8 rebounds entering Friday. Brand at the very least aims to become a first-time selected All-Star (he was a replacement once). He had 24 points, 13 rebounds and two blocked shots Friday.

"He's had a great year," Los Angeles coach Mike Dunleavy said. "I think MVP consideration comes from teams with really high seeds - typically guys think about (Tim) Duncan or someone from Detroit. But he's solidified himself as an All-Star. If we finish with a top record, win our division, absolutely (he's got a shot)."

Coach D on Mike B
Dunleavy on Mike Bibby's showing against his team the last time, when Bibby went for a season-high 38 points, "You get guys who can really stroke the ball and let them get a taste of it, and no matter how good the defense is ... doesn't matter. Sometimes they get so hot, defense doesn't matter."

This time, Bibby scored 31 points on 11-of-18 shooting.

Et cetera
Brad Miller, when told he had "good boards, good shots ... ," replied with a smile, "Good boards? I had three. Mike (Bibby) is already giving me a hard time because he had more than me tonight."

NUMBERS
15 The Kings' winning streak against the Clippers at Arco Arena.
13 Peja Stojakovic's season-high rebounding total.
19 Number of lead changes in the game.

SOUND BITES
"I don't care what their record is - they are a very good team." - Elton Brand, Clippers forward on the Kings

I still don't believe that Kaman didn't know that Miller is a country boy; like I said in chat last night, the guy has "hick" written all over him.

That one statement might go a long way towards explaining why Kaman doesn't know a lot of things... Note he didn't say he'd stopped the illegal action. He said he's been doing it less and less...

Certainly appears as though Kaman isn't exactly the sharpest arrow in the quiver.

Miller should not be smiling about this.

I always pictured Kaman with a caveman club, not a bow and arrow.

No. To me it sounds like he has a comedian's timing. He is sounding smarter and smarter to me.

Well as long as Peja averages 13 rebounds per game for the rest of the season I don't think it should be much of a problem. ;)
