Batum not doing Blazers any favors, will sign first lucrative offer sheet

Amnesty is a useless tool for the Kings. They won't spend one real dime over what they already have in salary. So using amnesty on Salmons still means they have to pay him. He just doesn't count against the cap. That won't happen with the Maloofs. You want them to make an offer to Batum, figure out how to ship off Salmons and one other player with about 2 or 3 million in salary and take only draft picks in return. Just assume the Kings salary cap is right where they are right now and amnesty is not a tool in their box.

Indeed. Amnesty will be a useless tool as long as the owners are useless tools.

The more and more i watch Harden, the more i'm getting over tyreke. I'm sure plenty of teams won't hesitate to offer Harden the max when hes a RFA but i think regardless of who we have at 2, we should try and make a play for him. Him and Batum would be a nice pairing

Harden doesn't become a restricted freeagent until after this coming season. Ibaka and Maynor are in the same boat. So the Thunder's roster is pretty much set for next season. I believe that Nazr Mohammed is an unrestricted freeagent.

One has to wonder how good Reke would be if he had real coaching in the NBA, like Harden. And to think, we passed on Brooks for Petrie's boy Westphail.

the Maloofs are suckers for sweet talkers.

In hindsight, KJ and the NBA should have enlisted Eric Mussellman and his powerpoint skils to demonstrate to the Maloof brothers just how good the arena deal was. Considering that Mussellman was able to sell them on the idea that he would be a good coach, he certainly could have done the same regarding the downtown arena deal.

I think he was more the Maloofs boy.

Doesn't matter who we would have hired, if they were picked by Petrie or the Maloofs, if they are not supported and backed in principle and in practice by good owners.

Scott Brooks wouldn't have had nearly the impact here that he's having in OKC. The culture here is sick. Until the Maloofs are gone, even good coaches here will not do well. It all trickles down. For all we know Keith Smart may be a potential COY, if placed in a healthy organization with non meddling owners, a GM that can spend, and where players trust and believe they are in an organization committed to winning.

The Kings, right now, are not an organization committed to winning. Dr. James Freaking Naismith would't be able to have success in this situation.

Until you remove the cause, it's useless applying a cure.

Thought I read somewhere that GP and Westphal go way back, and that if it was up to the Maloofs Westphal would have been fired earlier, but Petrie stuck up for him.

I could be totally wrong though!

Also, agree with The Hammer....The team culture here is F'd until the Magoofs are gone forever. Makes it hard to be optimistic, even if we get Davis this draft, as long as the Magoofs are owners I cant really hold out much hope for this team...But alas, I'm a fan. :p

Totally hijacked this thread, my bad!

About Batum....He'd be a great piece to add, but I wouldnt want to overpay. I think locking up JT should be priority #1 this offseason. He'll come a lot cheaper than Batum as well. Batum wants to get PAID, and to bring him here, we're going to have to overpay. We'd end up having 75% of our teams salary tied up in the SF position!
