Band Of Brothers!

I am not going to get my hopes up too much and I am going to take these games against the spurs 1 by 1, but I am seeing this team mesh together quicker than I could have imagined.

I truly believe the major whooping and suspension of Artest were a blessing in disguise for this Kings team.

They have had to band together like brothers and come through this, I know that in war they say that leaders arrise in battle, and I am in no way comparing actual war to the playoffs, but the intensity of the playoffs compared to the actual season is where leaders are born!

Kevin Martin is having a coming out party, Bonzi Wells is coming out bigtime!

The funny thing is the Kings are not having there main weapons even firing! Bibby has not been himself and neither has Miller.

We may or may not win this series, BUT They do have a seriously good chance to win it! and the future of this franchise is looking so much better game by game.

Next years team is going to be fun to watch especially considering that almost every player is under contract!

MAN I LOVE THIS TEAM!!
GO KINGS!!

All except the guy who is powering us. Which is a concern, but I think the crowd's response will help to weld him to us, if we just make him a competitive offer.

Thanks brick forgot about Bonzi, but even if he goes somewhere else, Martin has shown that he can thrive in this position. I would not be suprised to see the Kings let Bonzi walk and have Cisco backing up Martin and Bibby

What about Adelman? This guy has had a GREAT gameplan going into pretty much every game.

We need to give this guy a good offer after the season. The Maloofs' need to kiss his boots and pray he comes back.

I could see us doing that.

And what a mistake that would be.

Take Bonzi off this roster and the Spurs have just completed a nifty 4 game sweep of the Kings. Kevin's a keeper for the future, but if we're serious at all about making a run or two before the rest of the roster gets old, you can't afford let a guy who's only the league's leading rebounder in the playoffs this year walk away. Looked like a mistake even before the series, but now you let the guy who is your playoff leader and heart walk away and...?

Right now, at this moment, I think Bonzi Wells is one of the five best players in the League. The Maloofs can not allow that man to walk. Kevin is wonderful and all that, but he is not Bonzi Wells at this time. Kevin may become an Allstar someday, but he will never be as strong and over-powering as Bonzi Wells.

I totally agree.. the Spurs would have sweeped the Kings by now if Bonzi was not here.. the Maloofs definitely need to sign him..

And true, Martin is a fast growing player, which would make the Kings bench all the stronger.. I say to keep Bonzi.. and have Martin and Cisco be the core of the Kings bench..

You can't let a guy like Bonzi go...

After all the bad experiences Bonzi has had elsewhere the fact that he's feeling the luv in Sac has got to mean a lot. After you've been in a bad situation you appreciate it when you're in a good one.

The Maloofs will offer him a fair deal, not the max he could make, but it will be enough to feed his kids.;)

yeah, I don't think his kids are as hungry as Spreewell's.;)

Here is one point about Bonzi, he is having a career year which just happens to coincide with a contract year. I do think that he can be an asset to this team but it has to be at the right price!

As far as Adleman is concerned the Maloofs and Petrie need to hope they can re-sign him because other teams will be making him very lucrative offers because he is a proven winner (though all of his winning has come at the hands of having Petrie as his GM) remember he could not turn Golden State into a winner even though they had some talent.

The unfortunate thing for the Kings is that even if they want to get another coach, there is not a better coach out there! I am not a huge Adleman fan, but he is the best free agent coach this summer and they need to decide what to do with him.

Also does anyone know when Petries contract is up again? because when he left Portland they went on a downhill slide in just a few years of his departure.

That's actually not really true.

He's had the career rebounding year obviously, and we damn well needed every one. But overall he's had years at least as good (for example he averaged 17.0pts 6.0rebs for Portland back in 01-02 as a major offensive option). There was a point years ago in Portland when people thought he was a budding All-Star type player. How come he's paid as much as he is actually. This is no fluke.

The change hasn't been so much in his game as in his maturity. There was some quote from him about how the whole Memphis thing last year made him wake up and realize he had to start taking basketball seriously or some such, and the change in his demeanor has been evident ever since he's been here. Not just not being a problem, but taking the next step and being a leader.

Brick I am not saying Bonzi is not worth it, and as far as scoring goes this is not his best year, but overall, This is one of the 2 best years in his career. I think Bonzi is a great player and I believe he has at least 3-4 more years of good productive basketball in front of him and maybe 4-6 more years of playing left. And I know Petrie will do what is right because this guy is a basketball mastermind.

I would love to have Bonzi back, but I honestly think the maturation of Martin is the key. I personally believe Martin will be our starter for the future and I would hate to lose this guy over keeping Bonzi. In a perfect world we would be able to have both of them at the top of their games, but we know this is not going to be possible.

1) Kevin is either a special type player, or he's not. If he's a special player than eventually he will push Bonzi out of his way for the starting role. If he's not, then losing him is not a devastating loss anyway.

2) We are of course in no danger of losing Kevin for years now. Rookie contract runs two more years, and we have matching rights for year #5. That's more than enough time for Kevin to unseat Bonzi, if he's going to be able to. If he does, you ask Bonzi if he is willing to be a backup. If Bonzi's not, you trade him.

3) Much depends on what you are doing. If you are rebuilding, then sure, hand the job to the kid and see what hapopens. But if you are contending, as in actually planning at making a title run....no. Brad, SAR, Bonzi himself are all 30. Kenny's 29. Mike is 28. That crew could get significantly turned over, but their last window as stalwarts is NOW. Next three years basically. Maybe one or two more for Bibby.

Let me just say this, I am no Adleman fan but at the same time, if you look at our players and the type of offense we run, he is a good fit. He's a decent tactician with questionable calls at times, however, better than anyone available. There are only 3 coaches I like out there who I think would fit better in Sac; P. Jackson, Sauders, and Pop.

We need to stop looking at the coach so much and start looking at getting Artest/Bonzi-type players. Trust me, I've play competitively for over 10 years now and not once was I set off by the coach, it was the players around me that got me going.
