Atlanta Dream Expansion Draft Set For Feb. 6

#2
Well my goodness didn't the folks in the room vote to give Atlanta more bank than any previous expansion team for the good of the order.

My protected are now: Penicheiro, Walker, Brunson,Powell, Lawson,Newton
with the thinking I'm not going to leave both of our point guards unprotected.

Available to Atlanta: Griffith, Haynie, Robinson, Atkinson, Williams, Smith and Frohlich

What your gonna leave my girl ''Yo'' unprotected, that makes me sad.
I would rather she retired a Monarch, than get picked up by an expansion
team. I may be speaking from the Heart, but I would leave Ticha or Newton
rather than Yo...I know her career is winding down, it's just hard to see her go. Should be very interesting to see what moves they make.

There is no way that Yo goes to Atlanta, NBH. If they are dumb enough to take her, she will retire. I can't believe they would not know that.

They only get one shot to draft a unrestricted free agent, and like 6th says, if they waste that pick on Yo knowing she hasn't even confirmed she's going to even play for us yet? The same reason why we won't core and protect her is the same reason why Atlanta can't possibly take her.

I am of two minds regarding this issue:

On one hand, I don't want to see the Monarchs get played by some expansion bull****.

On the other hand, I just bought my pops season tickets to the Dream, and I want him to get to see some competitive games.

That's cool Slim! :)

(now going back to hating Atlanta and every thing they stand for with these hosed up rules they've invented to make them better instead of giving them Charlotte:mad:)

So it sounds like we just leave Yolanda out in the "valley of decision" until she gets her house in order, and I am fine with that. But there are risk involved. I would think that Coaches Boucek and Whisnant know by now what she is going to do. Here is my theory. If she is not on the protected list, that means more than likely she "is not" coming back. If she is on the list, that means she will return.

According to a person with sources in the league, the Monarchs are leaving Penicheiro off the protected list and either Walker or Griffith.

If I had to make a choice, I would leave Griffith off instead of DeMya. The chances of Yo being selected is slim to none in my mind. As far as Ticha, I do have a problem with that. Ticha still has game left in her, and I am not sure I am ready to hand the reigns over to Kristen Haynie just yet. She did not have a great last season. In my mind it comes down to Ticha or Haynie.

Therefore my updated list would be: Ticha, Brunson, Powell, Walker, Lawson and Newton.

Can't get in to my head about this one ...

Still very much in my Heart about it ... Heart says: Yo CAN'T be anything but a Monarch, or a retired Monarch, same with Ticha ... hopefully Atlanta won't choose either because they are too, too, too, well, old, by WNBA expansion team standards ... ; (

And then Haynie, yes I love Haynie, but I have a bad feeling that she will get picked ... ; ( ... Noooooo ... ; (

I say just give Atlanta Swin Cash and the first 12 picks in the college draft ... ; )

I guess I'll have to read about it on Sucky Wednesday, the day after Super Tuesday ...
