ATL PF Mike Scott?

He's a perfect stretch-four for Karl's system, and only 26-yrs-old. He shot 34% last year from beyond the arc. ATL traded for Splitter, signed Milsap, and are trying to develop Muscala. He may be seeing limited action. His contract is 2ys/6.6 (3.3). I'm thinking a second rd pick, or possibly reroute one of the Phili's euro's to ATL for Scott.

Thoughts?

Not much of a needle mover. Like that his 3pt% and FT% are trending upwards. Seems a bit undersized.

I guess it depends on if they are trying to get Moreland minutes this year or not. If they are, I say pass.

We need a 4 who can shoot so I see the logic. Bargs could have worked but is inept defensively. Scott definitely fits the bill. I don't know why he leaves his situation in Atlanta though. He is a good fit there and loved by the fans. Darrel Arthur does similar things (not a great 3 point shooter but still stretches the floor) and is an UFA.

I take Scott over Bonner.
Scott is quick, athletic and has a much quicker, higher release on his jumpshot.
But Bonner is avaiable. Scott probably not.
And do I take Scott over Gay or Casspi at the 4? I'm not sure about that.

I'd love Scott. I'd take him over Bonner and over Darrell Arthur as well. Decent defender, mobile, improving shooter etc.

But he's under contract with Atlanta for two more seasons and I'm not sure what we'd trade for him.

I like Scott. Ive always thought of him as more of SF than a PF because of his athleticism and skill set, but if Gay can PF then I guess Scott can. But I agree with Funky, there's little chance we acquire him.

I posted this trade on a forum where Atlanta fans could chime in. It appears value-wise it's a fair trade - however, injury concerns with Thabo/Splitter/Horford make it a priority to have solid depth at PF. Although this would save them money, they don't feel they could get a decent enough backup to replace Scott, on a vet minimum contract, in case of an injury. I think if they would have kept Carroll, this trade would have had a legitimate chance. It's too bad. I feel like Scott is not going to get a chance to play much next season.
