As a Kings fan are you a 49ers or Raiders fan?

49ers or Raiders

I was in a slight disagreement with someone who was claiming most Kings fans are Raiders fans. From what I've noticed over the years there are more 49ers/Kings fans... I think I even did a similar poll to this a few years ago.

KHTK does a lot of Raider talk (at least from what I remember) and Sacramento did seem to try to latch on to the Raiders, especially when there was discussion of them possibly moving to Sac. But since Sacramento gets KNBR and KGO, there's not much reason for KHTK to spend a lot of time on the 49ers.

Also, a lot of Sacramentans I know are 49er fans because the Raiders were in L.A. when they were growing up, or they were around when they left and stopped rooting for them because of it.

Yea I read that on 9ersWZ.com... and supported your argument actually.

9ers obviously.

I would say the Niners have a foothold on the Sacramento area due to being the closest team from a geographical standpoint for many years. Also, for those who remember the Niners used to hold there summer camp in Rocklin at Sierra College. Those were great times. I wish they never would have left for UOP, but I can understand why. Growing up in Rocklin, I remember catching the Niners around town or at restaraunts. I will never forget watching Jerry Rice train. All of the legends told about his insane training regimens are true. Nobody practiced as hard as that guy.

IIRC, the 49ers came up to Rocklin back in the early 1980's, and largely due to the urging of one of their players, Dan Bunz. It should be noted that Bunz owned a restaurant called Bunz And Co. at the time.

Around the time Niners were spending their last year at Sierra College (I think it was around 1996 or '97), I remember a SacBee article saying that Dan Bunz was disappointed that the team was moving to Stockton for their summer camps. The buzz at the time was that the 49er's then-owner Eddie DeBartolo thought the Rocklin weather was too hot for the camps, but Bunz said that the team came up to Rocklin for the heat. Then Bunz said that he suspected that the real reason the 49ers moved to UOP was because of a sweetheart deal that the city of Stockton and/or UOP made to the Niners, which was probably similar to what Napa did to get the Oakland Raiders team to train there.

Ironically, the 49ers have not won a Super Bowl since leaving Sierra College. Coincidence?

I provided a link to this thread as proof of the 49ers/Kings relation as far as fans go and his response was

"I'll admit that there must be Niner fans out there, but your #'s can be just as misguided as mine could be."

I'm still awaiting his numbers... apparently he works in Sacramento and has NEVER met a 49ers fan.

Raiders!!!!!!!!!!

btw I've personally come across more raider fans in Sacramento than niner fans, been living up here for eight years.

I've been a Broncos fan since the mid-80s and followed the Pats since 92 when I first moved to Boston. While I wish the 9ers well in their quest to return to their former glory, I LOATHE the Raiders.

Well I'm not sure where you guys work/live/hangout but I'll agree that I do see more Raiders gear (flags, stickers, drunkard with Raider shirt :p) than 49ers on cars etc. However, I've lived in and around Sacramento for 25 of my 29 years and although 49ers fans don't seem to do that with their gear there are more definitely more 49ers fans in Sacramento.

I am also a Broncos fan. My Uncle was on their practice squad for 3 years so I've followed them ever since. Also, my Uncle played for the Buffaloes so I kind of follow Colorado sports in general.

Been a Niners fan all my life (not so of the Kings).

Since I've moved down here to SoCal, I've noticed that a LOT of Laker fans are also 49er fans.

I've been a 49er fan ever since I saw Freddie Soloman play back in the late 70's when I was a kid...we sucked those years, too...so definitely no bandwagon here.

For some reason I thought you and I were the same age.. not sure why I thought that. You're 4 years older than me. The first football games I ever remember seeing was the Doug Flutie "Hail Mary" game and the Raiders beating the Redskins in the Superbowl. My first favorite player was Marcus Allen. I was told I was a 49ers fan though. Haha. I remember getting a Hutch 49ers Joe Montana uniform, with the shoulder pads, helmet, jersey, pants, everything.. in like 1984. I wore that gear whenever I could. I was a dork. I still have pics of that.

Colts for life (since 1998)! Also a Giants fan but not because of the Mannings. I've been a Giants fan since the Kerry Collins/Ike Hilliard days! So I've been really lucky for the past two seasons.

:D Had that, too, although I think I mostly wore it on Halloween. Don't know what happened to it, though. It would be cool to have a son (or daughter) to pass it on to.
