Article by Real GM on Cousins:

bajaden

Hall of Famer
Article written by Daniel Leroux. He makes some interesting points. I don't agree with all of it, but in general, its fairly accurate.

"1. Physical Attributes

Much has been made about what position Cousins should defend at the NBA level, including some arguing that he should try to handle power forwards. Among other things, a player’s functional length, agility and degree of focus all help provide a clearer idea of their defensive endgame."

It's a decent article with some great points I hadn't considered... Figures it'll be swept under the rug over at RGM. I haven't seen a thread or post about it.

So he might be pretty good? I didn't read the whole thing as my thoughts on Cuz aren't going to change and getting half way through the article, I saw little if anything that changed my mind. In fact, the article bolstered my enthusiasm. I guess by never putting this info in my memory banks may make me a poor poster, especially when I come to Boogie's defense, but I will still enjoy him and will still hope he ends his career here.

Actually, the article was a fairly positive one on Cousins. I didn't necessarily agree with some of the suggestions, but what the hell do I know?

I said the article bolstered my enthusiasm. I hope you didn't misinterpret what I wrote. That's mainly why I didn't immediately read the whole thing. I know he is good and I know there is untapped potential. It's nice to have your views confirmed which is what the article did. Details are details and I doubt if anyone knows Boogie well enough to know everything nor do I suspect anyone can truly predict his future. The idea that a fresh start with a new organization might help him was interesting and I agree with that. He has been in a toxic environment from day 1 of his NBA career.

Nothing really written that wasn't written before.

Great length and coordination hindered by not being in great shape.
Dominating offensive ability hindered by forcing bad outside shots.
Good defensive ability hindered by laziness, reaching and bad team defense.
So talented he is still productive when he gets in his own way.

I'll add another: excellent timing and court vision for a big hindered by forcing bad passes.

So this means you really like him, right? :)

I do like that the article pinned all of that on the jokes of coaches that we've had here. Cousins, with proper coaching....Has the potential to either be an *** and blow up, or be a total monster and have his stats/impact on the game blow up. Only time (and whether or not Malone is who we hope he is) will tell.

I really like his talent, obviously. I dislike that he's wasting it. He's got a combo of size, coordination and touch that so many guys in the NBA and not in the NBA would kill for, and he chooses to be his own greatest enemy. Only he can decide if he wants to leave his mark in the NBA as an all time great, or as another supremely talented guy who never quite figured out. As a Kings fan, I'm hopeful. As a basketball fan, I'm skeptical.
