Artest to Detroit?

For several days now Sam Amick of the Bee has been referring to a possible Artest to Detroit trade that, for it to be equitable for the Kings, must include T Prince. My main concern with this trade means we would be losing our best post up player for another perimeter/slasher of whom we already have in Garcia and Salmons (although T Prince is a few inches taller and more established). The only way I'd do it would be a K Thomas and Artest for T Prince and A McDyess. What do you all think of acquiring T Prince?

Addition by subtraction. And Prince has the additional advanatage of being an established support/roleplayer who does not fight for the ball wiht oyur main guns. Obviously it would still leave us wihtout our #1 guy, and so potentially we could be as yawnworthy 40-49 win team forever until we replaced one or more of the starters with top flgiht personnel, but Prince is the sort of peice that might be more universally useful than anybody except a true superstar. Defensive roleplayer with enough offensive skills to avoid becoming a liability.

thing is, I got the distinct impression that Dumars had finally gotten fed up with the arrogant laziness of Billups and Sheed more than with their SF.

I like Prince as a player and he could be a good complement to Martin, but since he's signed through 2011 it could cut in somewhat to the 2010 free agency. He's also already 28, so, same age as Odom and Artest.

I think a deal could still get done using McDyess' contract and some of their young players.

We could have Stuckey last year so the Kings shouldnt even bother asking for him. Prince is really good on a good team, but on a mediocre one, he could disappear. Still he is solid and I would make this move.

Sac also get a future 1st round pick from PHX as well. We don't ditch our contracts that are bad but we get a bargain young player and a 1st round pick.

PHX replace the perimeter defense they lost with marion and adds a good defender in the post in AM. Also will effectively save 6ish mil on contracts because they won't have the 3rd year on LB's contract.

DET gets thier man (the best player in the deal) and a perfectly fine replacement for AM. I would assume Maxiel would start at PF now.

This is just an assumption. Prince has never BEEN on a mediocre team, so we shouldn't assume that he'll disappear. Even though obviously he is no star to begin with.

Prince is good but he makes too much money and he just adds to the overcrowding. I'd much rather we trade Ron for McDyess (expiring) and a pick or young big man.
