He proved he wasn't enough of a leader to get the group on the same page. Bibby seemed to force the leadership issue. IMHO, leadership just happens. The fact that Ron plays both ways and demands effort from his teammates made him a leader.

Bibby and Webber both specifically spoke of themselves as leaders. As far as I know, Vlade didn't.. Ron doesn't. However, people are following.

A great leader doesn't need to say, "I'm the leader." People just follow. Much to my surprise, the team is following Ron.

When Ron called a team meeting after a loss, then said it was Bibby and Corliss' idea. That's leadership. I believe Corliss set it straight.
Amen amen

ok so many things to say... I agree with the comment that webber was never a leader. Vlade was. Webber had the ability, but Vlade led this team.

Bibby was never a leader. he tired, but didnt have the ability to lead. Peja had the ability but not the heart. Ron has both. the heart and the ability. He is a true super star. Webber was a stat concerned player that lacked a killer instinct. I was not high on webber. ANd i do not see how people still morn his loss. I jumped for joy that night... Tho i was like "we traded webber for nothing..." i was still exctatic to see him Go haha. His time was up... he couldnt play anymore. His numbers in Phili are padded just like his last 2 yrs in sac. THey look good. but just watch his games... he sucks now.

Ron is the future. His killer instinct is like none other. Now bibby can fully be utilized again... as he wont be so guarded. And our elite team is very very close again. Amen!

P.S. I love ron a lil to much... my gf is jelous... just wanted to add that haha
Oh lord.

oh lord? talk it out... why do you disagree (and i know i cant spell... but i dont care)
Yes...Webber coming to Sacto had nothing to do with us making the playoffs consecutive years. Or turning around the franchise. Or Webber leaving last year had nothing to do with us limping into the playoffs.

Your absolutely correct, the only thing Webber did was fill a stat sheet.

Obviously he had nothing to do with this franchises success.

Webber went down in dallas, and we coincidentally started to lose that series.

Damn that Webber and him only worrying about his own stats.

[/sarcasm]

Be thankful of what Webb brought, be thankful of that team. I'm disgusted by your lack of appreciation.

Thats my response to you.

On a side note, i agree with you on your take of Artest. He is going to be incredibly important to this team. But comparing him to webber is like apples and oranges, and in my opinion this thread is bogus. Saying Ron brings a purpose to what was a dying team is similar to what Webber did. Comparing them as people/players is ludacris. Comparing them in their impact is not. But then again you were saying Webber had no impact.

P.S. I love Ron a little too much, Phil Jackson is jealous.

I never said webber wasnt a great player that helped out franchise a ton... i was just saying i felt he was over rated... if he was rated " a great player who does alot for a team... scores points, is a presence... stuff liek that" than i would be fine.. but people labled him super star.... amazing... savior.... I appreciate alot of what he did... and I dont appreciate soem things he did as well. I am your typical webber h8ter... i admitt it. I liked it when he was being a healthy contribution. not when he was a locker room distraction (leaving games early to date tyra banks... not showing up at all to road games... a leader doenst do that)

no, you said he was a "stat concerned player who lacked a killer instinct". I have to agree with JJ here.. whatever.

I think the point of this thead, and the only way that (to me) you can compare Webb & Artest, is the intangible things they bring to the game. The desire to win, the team direction, the leadership. This team looked lost after Webb left, and now they've found their way. They look like they care again, and that is great to see.
