Arena press conference at the Railyard today.

In attendance from city council according to Rob McAllister: Cohn, Ashby, Schenirer and the mayor.

Also US Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood is there and Sen. Steinberg is supposed to show up.

Thanks for the pics! Unfortunately KJ said the new renderings were not quite right. So they were not released today.

Not getting much property tax revenue, special assessment money, sales taxes from that, either. But we don't need that, do we?

Rob McAllister tweeted:

LaHood on financing for infrastructure around arena: We will do everything we can to help.

I know it's too much to hope for the US to kick in money. But they have and will spend far more on far less deserving projects.

It'd be sick if they helped. I wish we could get some fed money for the arena...

Well, it may create a tax BREAK if they make the intermodal and surrounding area part of a green/LEED gold initiative. That, and if it is shown to decrease the strain on roadways and improvement projects, it could possibly garner a grant. So, you'd basically be getting FED money, but as part of a different vector. Could be incredible, and a major help.

I think having a great intermodal facility next to the ESC is critical. How easy would it be to communities that have stops along the Capitol Corridor route to hop a ride to downtown Sacramento and walk a few yards to a game or concert?
