Are the Kings now the deepest team in the league at the PF position?

IMO offensively, The Kings are one of the deepest teams in the PF spot in the league with Kenny Thomas, Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Maurice Taylor. Not all great players but all good possible starters... Any other teams you guys would suggest that could compare?...

Denver, Portland, Phoenix, just off the top of my head. Chicago if you call Nocioni a 4. There are probably a few others.

And let's be real here -- Mo hasn't started in years and was just picked up off the waiver wire. May or may not be abel to give us some quality backup minutes, but that's hardly a quality starter anymore.

They're right there.

Depending on injuries and attitude, Denver may be No. 1 with Nene, Reggie Evans, KMart and Joe Smith.

Chicago has PJ Brown, Tyrus Thomas, Mike Sweetney and Malik Allen. That's pretty beefy, especially if Thomas can make the transition from college to the pros.

Washington (Jamison and Songaila), Dallas (Dirk and Croshere) and San Antonio (Duncan and Horry) don't have as many big bodies, but they have all-star starters and decent backups.

What's unfortunate for the Kings is that while they have fair-to-good power forwards, they don't necessarily complement Brad at center. Shareef has a good offensive post game, but is a soft rebounder and so-so defender. Thomas is a better rebounder, but isn't a help defender. Taylor's game, if I recall correctly, is similar to Brad's. He's primarily a mid-range shooter, and while he's a large guy, I don't remember him having a particularly physical reputation.

It would be ideal if they had someone at the 4 who could make up for some of Brad's deficiencies.

deep if you mean by numer of PF's yes with SAR, KT, MO, LA, JW, and CW yeah then I guess we are deep at the PF spot.

I agree with you on Denver and Dallas for sure... But dont you think lack of a solid center in San Antonio will really affect how much Duncan plays the 4?

Well, their center position is sort of like our power forward position: get a group of guys -- Elson, Butler and Oberto -- and hope one of them comes through in a big way. As Rick Pitino might say, "David Robinson isn't walking through that door!"

Gosh I sure hate that shot gun approach. With only only a 15 player roster, why hog up 3-5 guys at one position, there are 5 positions to account for. I'd really like to see some people that can play 4 & 5 as Taylor might, SAR did last year. Thomas is really a SF, wanting to play PF...he does o.k., but is lacking against the bigger guys in the West. What someone said, we need the PF to compliment Brad and cover his weaknesses not make him look worse. What we really don't need if a PG Center that is Brad. It should be interesting this year with Muss and a whole year of Artest hopefully, lots of change.

Offensively we are in the top 10 at least, defensively we are in the top 10 when you are going from the bottom up.

I'd much rather have one really good one than three or four mediocre ones. Only one can play at a time, so we'll always be, well...mediocre.

if you count all bigs we dont have very many good ones at all, but if u look at our clear cut 1 and 2 power forwards, were are pretty set....only nene and kmart could say they're better...but if u coutn edwardo and camby and reggie and joe smith and jamal and whoever else they have then ya we look pretty weak in comparison
