Are the Kings Going to Get Anything for McLemore?

I'm not sure. IIRC, I had read (probably on these boards itself), that the salary cap for next year is projected to be around 95M. Per HoopsHype, Spurs are projected to be at 93M next year, per the current roster.
Of course, a lot can change, but if the above numbers are correct, then they might not be able to just sign a player, and might have to do it via trade.
This is entirely theoretical of course. I don't know the numbers (was basing it on 95M, and HoopsHype data, but might be wrong), don't know if the Spurs are even interested in Ben, and if something is feasible. Was also just an example.
That said, does someone know more about the projected cap next year?
On The Vertical Woj said it would be around $101 Million.

The circumstances for Hield and Ben were different. They are the same age and put up the same numbers this year. Hield's numbers were less when he was in N.O. with Davis being the main focus. Ben's numbers increased when he wasn't on the floor with Cousins and Gay. It's really pretty simple. It's not just about playing time. Hield performed better when he got to Sac because playing time, no one else to defer to and absolutely nothing to lose. Totally different career situations.
This isn't necessarily directed at you, but for those saying Ben is worthless, just don't get it. There is a reason that agents don't want their clients to come to Sac as rookies. They don't even want them to work out for the team. It is not a good place for young players. The market will dictate his value, but he's not a throw away.

Trade him to the Nets for KJ McDaniels or to the Spurs for Kyle Anderson.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Kings keep their options open fully willing to do him a favor just like with Curry last year.

A team that may be interested in Ben is Cleveland. I know LeBron loved Ben Mac coming out of college. Cleveland is also maxed out on the salary cap.
Maybe do a sign and trade of Ben Mac for PG Kay Felder and a 2nd round pick and filler? The Kings would get a back up Point Guard and a pick from the deal.

In fairness to Jimmer, he has improved since he left the Kings. Don't know about china, but I saw him on the Denver team in summer league last year, and despite Jamal Murray being on the team, Jimmer was the best player on that team. Not saying that's a big deal, but that he is a better player now than he was 2 or 3 years ago. We always seem to remember the player that was here, and then judge him on that memory.
Sadly, in some cases it works.

The official release from the league was originally projected to be 103 mil. Just recently, they revised it to 102 mil. So I think if you plan on somewhere between 101 and 103 mil, you'll be in the ballpark. Here's the thing. It's always assumed that the top players will sign with a team that's a contender. Well, his coming summer, most of the teams that will have the cap space to give out max contracts, are non-contending teams. Like the Kings. Of course there are some top team that will be able to free up some space by letting some top players walk.
For instance, almost everyone on the Warrior team is an unrestricted freeagent, or at the least holds a player option, which means they can opt out and become an unrestricted freeagent. In which case, they would have a ton of cap space. Of course that's not going to happen. All that cap space will be spent on retaining those player, or as many as they can. I doubt they can retain all the important one's, and still keep Iggy, but we'll see.
The Clippers are in a similar position with Redick, Paul, and Griffin all unrestricted freeagents, and Jordan becomes an unrestricted freeagent the following season. Portland has no wiggle room at all. They have no important freeagents, and will be in the luxury tax bracket without signing anyone. My point being, that there won't be many so called contenders that will the capspace to sign players. That could crack the door for teams like the Kings. However, if I'm the Kings, I only sign players that would be considered part of the future to long term contracts. Anyone else, should just be filler to bide time for another year or so. In other words, keep cap flexibility for when you need it. Do deals similar to the deals Afflalo and Tolliver got.

Hey, all I'm suggesting is to sign him up for our summer league team. If he doesn't look like he can cut it in the NBA, then let him go back to China. I'll let Joerger and Vlade make that decision. I'm just saying why don't we give him a chance. Of if not us, then perhaps someone else. Once you get labeled, it's hard to shake that label. Ask Cousins...

I had thought this would be an easy decision. But, since Ben did not meet"starter criteria," the QO is now just a little over $4 million, instead of over $5. For some reason, that's closer to making a difference in my mind...

We should give Quincy Douby a chance too. Last I heard he was tearing it up in China and Turkey.

I think the Kings will extend a QO to Ben.
The Kings are way under the salary cap, so a QO would hardly cause any problem with signing the type of free agents the Kings may get this summer.
Best case scenario is we do a sign and trade for Ben and get a young asset or a pick in a deal.

Don't we have Bogdan Bogdanovic coming over this year? Isn't he a SG too? If he's coming we need to rid ourselves of McLemore. He was the worst starting SG when starting, and he never got any better off the bench. He needs to go bye bye..
EDIT: Didn't see he released a statement about a month ago saying he was not going to worry about anything until his season is over in the Euroleague. I assume he will come over after this year even if under contract for the 17-18 year. Buyout is 1 mil.

I'll forever hold Jay Bilas' assessment of Ben McLemore against him. He was on TV at the draft saying he was #1 on his board. I gotta say I was pretty staunch about him being overrated, especially the way that Marcus Smart punked him on his homecourt, that rubbed me the wrong way. not to say he's a bust or anything, he's still got untapped potential for sure he was just was overrated.
