Arco game report: Injuries bad, but attitude is worse

Rick Adelman gets nervous every time Pete Youngman comes near, because it's never good news when the team trainer has that look.
Moments before Sunday's tipoff against the Golden State Warriors, the Kings' coach learned that he would not have the services of injured Cuttino Mobley (bad toe) and Corliss Williamson (tender elbow).
And the Kings didn't have Brian Skinner in the second half after the center sprained both thumbs, meaning just holding the ball would be a chore.
Which leaves the Kings where, exactly?
Williamson is expected to play Tuesday against Portland. Mobley and Skinner could be out longer with their ailments.
In the meantime, Adelman is demanding a better attitude by all healthy hands, stressing that making the playoffs is no sure thing if there are any more clunkers like Sunday's 104-94 setback.
"These guys act like we'll be in the playoffs, that we'll be OK," Adelman said. "No, it's not the same team. ... It's an attitude. The attitude we're playing with right now is not going to work. If we can get as mad about the guy getting the layup on us as we do about the officials ... "
Et cetera
With Brad Miller on crutches and Skinner out of the game, the Kings were in need of a center. Yet Greg Ostertag didn't hear his name called. Adelman said the Warriors presented too many matchup problems in order for Ostertag to be a factor.
* After losing 11 straight games at Arco Arena, the Warriors have now won two in a row. What's more, the Kings lost their 10th game at Arco this season after going 34-7 last season.
* Adelman on game officials Bennett Salvatore, Monty McCutchen and Phil Robinson: "I think the officials had the same kind of game we did. Bad. Will I get fined for that?"
* At 18, rookie Andris Biedrins became the youngest Warriors player to start a game. He had career highs in points (12) and rebounds (10).
* The Kings have been outrebounded in six straight games and have yielded an average of 104.6 points.
* Mike Bibby has led the Kings in assists in every game since the Chris Webber trade, including eight Sunday.
* The Warriors had been 0-9 without Jason Richardson in the lineup.
Kings for a day
KENNY THOMAS - With the Kings short-handed, Thomas came off the bench to provide 34 minutes, the most by any Kings interior player. He scored 18 points with eight rebounds.
Big number
11 - Consecutive points the Warriors scored to begin the game.
Question posed
WOULD IT BE OK TO PERFORM SOME SORT OF CEREMONY ON THE ARCO ARENA GROUNDS AS A WAY TO BE DONE WITH THESE INJURIES ONCE AND FOR ALL? More pressing is how the Kings respond with more bodies suddenly crowding the ailment wagon, with Cuttino Mobley and Brian Skinner now a nervous day-to-day. The Kings found out Sunday how key two of their newest additions are, Mobley for his fourth-period firepower when Peja Stojakovic is off and Skinner for the mere presence to prevent so many easy routes down the lane. Even on the home court, the Kings can't catch a break. Oops. Need to rephrase that.
