Anybody think Westphal could be fired early into the season?

i have a feeling that his terribly inconsistent lineups are going to continue to hurt the development of the youngins and the team chemistry. Since we brought on Keith Smart, we now have a viable interim head coach option. I thought Keith did a good job last year for GS and im predicting that part way through the season, when the team chemistry is not where it should be, i will probably prefer Keith over Westphal.

Hopefully im wrong and Paul does a good job, but i just wanted to start a new topic b/c im sick of hearing about Dally and Hayes, let's move on people....

It doesn't help that the first 7 games are against playoff teams from last year. They are mostly on the road in Jan/Feb. It could get ugly fast.

Except his lineup was very consistent at the end of last year and had clear needs which have been partially addressed via the draft and getting Chuck Hayes/J.J. Hickson. Lineups don't have to be a problem this year. Implementing a good team defense is what he has to do this year, to get my approval at least.

No. that would mean the Maloofs would need to eat part of his contract. Even if it was only 2 months they'd have to eat, I'd doubt they do it.

Spending with the goal of improving does not appear to be on the docket, for the Maloofs. Trying to squeeze every penny out of this franchise, to invest elsewhere, however does.

Unfortunately that seems to be the case!

We finally have foundation pieces to build around and finally have cap space to build a great team but their greed and financial difficulties is the single most dangerous factor that could **** us up for a decade.

I think that by hiring Keith Smart, Petrie has an experienced NBA head coach sitting on the bench ready to take over if need be. It's insurance. It also gives Bobby Jackson more time to learn the ropes as he is likely the future coach of the Kings.
