So 7ft Defensive Big who could not stick after 2 years with wizards

Tony Mitchell will join the Sacramento Kings for training camp.
Mitchell, who played for Alabama, participated in the Vegas Summer League with the Kings.
Mitchell could possibly take the roster spot of Tyler Honeycutt.

Ex-Kings forward Darnell Jackson expected to attend #UtahJazz training camp. Jackson played for Sacramento in 2010-11.

This would seem to boost the chances for Hamady N'Diaye to make the Kings roster if he performs well in training camp. Keith Smart and Geoff Petrie could also opt to ride with the four big men with guaranteed contracts -- DeMarcus Cousins, Jason Thompson, Thomas Robinson and Chuck Hayes -- and use Travis Outlaw as a smallball power forward, if needed. That would help the chances of Tony Mitchell or another wing/guard looking to make the team.

If we pick up Honeycutt, that's 14 guaranteed contracts, so all the rest may be academic barring a trade. Might basiclaly be a battle for his spot.

Well you said IF we pick up Honeycutt so doesnt that mean we really only have 13 Guaranteed Contracts? If if team cuts Honeycutt they could pick up Tony Mitchell if Tyler gets outplayed in camp that would make 14 players.

But isnt the Maximum Roster 15? Could we cut Honeycutt and pickup Tony and the 7.0 ft defensive guy as a 5th big man?

Sure we can only have 12 active but if we wanted the depth we could have 15 on the roster?

Sure, we could have 15...in a fantasy land where the Brothers Broke didn't own the team. :p

Well after looking all over best info i could find is that Tyler is guaranteed his 2012-2013 year 2 salary of 809k I believe the 3rd year of 880k is not guaranteed (I saw 100k partial guarantee somewhere).

So if that is the case You are correct that the Brothers Broke would not pay Tyler 809K to go away for another spot. So my guess we are stuck at the 14 (Sorry Tony!)

But keep the 14 and add one min contract for one yr to the 7.0 ft guy for depth at the Center spot? Why not?

OK, Cyril Awere was born in 1985 in Nigeria. He last played on the team, Stade Nabeulien (Tunisia. He's listed at 6'11" and 268 pounds. Here's a video of him. He's number 14 in white..

I had to refresh my memory on Reed. Sad since St. Louis is my home town, and I went to many games at St. Louis university back in the day. Anyway, Reed was highly thought of, but he ran into trouble at the end of his sophmore year. He and a couple of teammates were accused of being involved in a rape in one of the teammates appartment. Reed said he was never involved and didn't even know a rape was going on. He said he was watching the Laker game on TV. He got up to go into the bedroom and there was one of his teammates having sex with a girl. He said he immediately left the room and closed the door.

The authorities dropped the charges after investigating, but the University decided to suspend him for a year for doing nothing to stop his teammate. His plea of course was that he didn't see a rape, so he didn't try and stop it. Anyway he played in the spanish league last year, and susposedly has grown an inch since his sophmore year. Which would make him actually 6'10" if true. I found some of his measurements from the Adidas Nations camp. According to the camp he has a 7'3" wingspan and had a vertical of 37" for what thats worth. His stats his sophmore year were 12.4 PPG, 8 RPG, and 2.1 BPG. He shot 58.7% overall. Here's a short video of him from his college days.

People are missing the point here. Camp usually has 20+ players. You need a bunch of bodies to practice as people get hurt/dinged up.

So 3 of the 4 invitees are Bigs 7-0,6-11,6-10

It seems Honeycutt has a guarenteed salary this year, but have seen that he may not have a guarenteed roster spot? So I guess that means he may not have a spot on the active 12 roster?

So that means If Tony Mitchell impresses more than Tyler , Tony could be signed as a 15th contract but push Tyler to the inactive roster?

Or one of the three bigs could be competing for a 5th Big spot and might beat Chuckwagon to the 4th Big spot or just be insurance depth?

But really folks do we need a 6th SF (JJ,Salmons,Outlaw,Cisco,Honeycutt) more than a 5th Defensive Big?
I dont think so.

I really think the question will be if any of the 3 bigs play well enough to warrant a league min contract to be the 5th Big

Maybe just big bodies for Boogie to practice against? He needs to make a higher % at the rim.

Hmmmm, I'm not sure about that. I think most people know that the likelyhood of one of these guys making the roster is slim. My guess is that Mitchell has the best chance. Now its always possible that that one of these bigs will impress and be given a shot, but I sincerely doubt it. Reed came out of highschool with good credentials but his little episode put a dent in his career. Also, I read that the Kings are going to go with just 18 bodies in camp this year. My guess is that if the Kings decide to sign Mitchell, they'll cut ties with Honeycutt completely. If so, that would leave them with 14 spots and the chance to sigen one more player if they desire. They could also send Honeycutt off in a trade for a future 2nd round pick, or as filler in a bigger trade.
