Aminu vs Landry

How do these two compare? Is Aminu just Landry Part two?
Aminu is going to be a small forward(he can play power forward), but besides for that Aminu is an elite rebounder and good defender(scouting reports). Aminu's upside is supposed to be huge with a great work ethic, so I think if we don't see a power forward we like he should be the one we take and just trade Omri. Of coruse if we do take him the kings shooting is going to suck for at least another year. His shot isn't there yet, so we may just hold onto Omri until he gets his shot.

Why?? Omri is young and I honestly think he can play some two. He will be a decent defender. I think he is better and more upside then Greene.

Tyreke, Casspi and Landry it would be very hard for me to trade these three. And call me weird but I can't wait until sacramento resigns Brockness. He reminds me of a glue guy. Like funderburke/ short scott pollard. Teams need to have players like that. We are young let Omri, Casspi and Brockness grow together.

The two are nothing alike. Aminu is a freak athlete that has serious hops and runs like a deer. In college Aminu was a very good rebounder. How that translates to the NBA is yet to be seen. Height wise, well ask me after we get the actual measurements. Most experts see Aminu as a SF. Vlade made the Josh Smith comparison, and I think thats a good comparison. Smith is sort of a Hybrid PF/SF type player. Beasley in college also springs to mind.

Aminu weaknesss is not having SF skills right now. But he's very young so there's no reason to believe he won't aquire them. But eventually I could see him as a Josh Smith type of player.

I don't think he has Smith's build or strength. I seem him more as a Gerald Wallace type potentially. Agree? Disagree? You've seen much more of him.

For the record:

Aminu - 6'8'' 210
Smith - 6'9'' - 240
Wallace - 6-7'' 220

Is it just me or has Smith bulked up over the past few years. I use to think him kind of weak, and I swear his primary position was SF, but looking at him now I would say getting up to 240 has done him a lot of good. Baja was he about 220 at sometime? Could Aminus body support some more weight?

Aminu has been rated by some higher than Johnson, hes working hard on handling and shooting and being only 19 is more then just potential with his wingspan, size and atheleticism meaning he can contribute right away at both forward positions. I can see why the warriors would want him, he'd fit in perfectly for them.

I think Aminu is more like Thaddeus Young with better rebounding. Aminu has the natural attributes to deflect here and there, but he's not the freak Smith is in this area--that's the line between a fine athlete and a freak athlete.

I was comparing more style than present appearance. I think Aminu certainly has the ability to carry more weight. But I think like Smith, he's not a prototype PF. I think he'll be more of what they call in the NBA now, a strech PF. A guy that can hurt you inside and also outside. Unfortunately right now he doesn't have the outside skills or the ballhandling skills to be labeled that.

Do I think he can just be a straight up PF. Well I guess anybody can be put into any position, but it doesn't mean its the best place for them.. If he's able to develop a consistant 15 to 18 foot jumpshot and put on another 30 pounds, then yes, I think he could be an effective player at PF. But he will be undersized, and unless he can develop a very good post game, he'll have trouble in the post against guys that are bigger than him, and still quick.

Quickness is a wonderful attribute to have. But remember, its most effective away from the basket. The closer you get to the basket the more restricted the space becomes and the more individual quickness becomes nullified. My point is that when you have a player with the athletic gifts Aminu has, the best way to utilitize them is on the perimeter or in the open court. Similar to the way Smith plays. The worse way to utilitize them is to stick him in a crowd under the basket.
