Amick: Kings in the “Danger Zone” with Fox Free Agency

#2
If they can't find a way and willing team to bring in a player that Fox believes makes them a contender, they need to get ahead of this and not wait till too late to get as much return as possible.

its not a matter of if, but more so a matter of when and what compensation you get in return. Vivek needs to sign off on this though, will he? hmm I don't know

Well considering he really **** the bed on this with Cousins by being wishy washy until the 25th hour, tanking any chance of a bidding war, and then demanding we get Buddy flippin Buckets of all people in a return because of his ridiculous "he's Klay" delusions.... I wouldn't really keep my hopes up on Vivek not effin this up.

one would like to believe that Vivek is intelligent enough to let the basketball folk handle the basketball decisions after his first stint

Im a little curious how Monk might feel about this, being best buds and all but yeah, maybe its time to shake it up properly.
Monk’s an elite 6th man (starter on a lot of teams) on an amazing contract. If he throws a hissy fit if Fox gets moved there would be no shortage of suitors.

But if we’re terrible and rebuilding and he’s cool with it, having Monk be a featured guy would be kind of really fun. He’s entertaining to watch.

He’s been here for years and is the franchise star. He’s a big reason we’re not contenders and never will be with him as the PG.

I don’t take threats from players if I’m the GM that’s for sure. Sort out a package and get him gone.

I choose to believe this is the time we trade a star for a haul.

No DMC package. No Webber package.

We’re getting 4 firsts and 3 swaps.
I'll go with 4 firsts and a power forward/center. I like Lyles, but he is all we have right now, and he missed ten games plus all of preseason.

The best method might actually be to trade Sabonis first and tank hard AF. Then sort out the rest of the mess. Then we have a clear direction at least

I’m open to a full rebuild with Fox being the first piece traded, or maybe you can get a star for star deal done (like KAT for Randle) and stay competitive and in the playoff picture.
That seems like the go to route for Monte. The times also dictate there might be options since so many other teams are stuck in the muck too. Not every team suffering towards those play in spots is going to rebuild all at once. Especially when you see the respective ages of the teams. Balancing trades using your stars makes more sense.
