American Idol

I think Gideon's ego might have hurt him alittle, but I agree he was much better than few guys that did make it to final 12.

I think the only reason Kevin is still there is because of the stupid votefortheworst.com . Honestly I feel bad for him. He is nowhere up to the level of even the least talented in the remaining 11.

GET HIM OUT!!! GET HIM OUT!!! BAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!

He's getting more and more juvenile week to week. Next week he's gonna sing 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'. Just watch.

Kick Kevin out and bring Ayla back!! Yeah, she's a bit withdrawn and shy, but she is much cuter and a much better singer than Kevin Covais will ever be.

Oh well ...

I was surprised Gedeon didn't make it .... I'd like to believe it wasn't his OVER-POWERING SELF-CONFIDENCE that voters didn't like ... cause talent-wise, there's probably about 3 to 4 guys that are not as worthy to continue on.

Kevin has NO BUSINESS making it to the final 12 - IMO

Bucky is probably next - hopefully Kevin will go with him

I was not surprised Ayla didn't make it, although I had her in the bottom 3, I thought for sure Melissa would be gone.

Simon's analysis of Ayla was correct - POOR SONG SELECTION. That's too bad ... on the other hand, there are much stronger girls that would have kept going and eventually Ayla would've been gone.

I just wish that the contestants who don't make it wouldn't make such a scene about getting cut. How could they not realize from the get-go that they might not be back next week?? They know exactly how the show works, so the waterworks really shouldn't occur. But at least Ayla got it together to sing her final song with her head held high.

I am truly upset. Gedeon was true talent. He had passion, stage presence and an exceptional voice. I really like him. Kevin has absolutely no business being up on THAT stage. A community theatre somewhere sure, but not National TV. It blows me away.

I have not had a chance to comment lately. Soooo....

Paris-Should've been gone based on her last 2 performances. Wind Beneath My Wings and Conga were horrible for me. Plus she has majot attitude that I don't like.

Lisa-Young voice.Has good control. But nothing special.

Mandissa-Love, love, love her. She is fantastic. She has fun and and has the talent.

Katharine-Great voice. Wonderful control. Much better than last week. Needed a bit more attitude for THINK!! She will around for awhile. I like her.

Melissa-I thought she did Heart proud. Heart is very difficult to sing and I think she did well.

Ayla-Did not do well this week. Hard to watch. Too tall and moves awkwardly because of it.

Kellie-Can't stand her. She may be pretty but that is about it. The dumb blonde act is getting really old quick. Plus, to me she doesn't have much of a voice. She can carry a tune, but there is nothing strong, or unique about it at all. I am done with her.

Kinnik-Poor thing. Hurt to listen to her. Knew she would be gone after that.

Now the boys....

Chris-Horrible on Wed. Thought his soft voice was awful. It has that rock warble that does not work for me. He shouts brilliantly but so far has shown me nothing else. And, again, he sounds like everyother voice on the radio today.

Taylor-Love him. Love his passion. He has a great voice and wonderful grasp of his performance. He will go far.

Kevin-Bad, Bad, Bad. Community theatre at best. Needs to go. Judges and America doing a disservice to him and other that deserve to be there.(Gedeon)

Will-Horrible, laxy performance. Cuter than a bugs ear, but he is most suited for Broadway.

Elliot-I usually LOVE him, but Wed. night I thought it was bad. He chose Heaven and sang it in a jazzy bluesy way but never changed the arrangement from rock, so for me it was off. I thought it was just eh. But, he is good, so he will stay awhile.

Bucky-Just doesn't have it. Not unpleasant, but not good either. Again, Gedeon was better than him.

Gedeon-Lovely voice. Wonderful stage presence. Looked forward to to see what song he chose and what he would do with it. Really like him.

Ace-I LOVED Butterflies on Wed. I thought he nailed it. He is a star. I don't know if he will win this, but he is a star. I thought his falsetto was brilliant. I like Ace a lot as well. He seems warm and kind. Not the best voice, but he can sell it. It will be interesting to see how far he goes.

Ya know .... this season's American Idol may just be ONE Idol Show we're all pretty much on "the same page".

.. Royal Diva ... I know what you're saying, but it's still hard, especially if you're as passionate and sensitive as some of these kids are

I think this is a solid top 10 or 11. Hopefully Kevin will be the first to go, then probably Bucky. After that some real talented people are going to start getting voted off.

My pick for the final 4 (in no particular order):
CHRIS DAUGHTRY
KATHARINE MCPHEE
TAYLOR HICKS
KELLIE PICKLER

I saw the show last night and I didn't think any of the contestants made a scene except for Ayla. She had tears, because I guess she cared. So, are you saying they shouldn't get emotionally at all? So, what if they get teary or show waterworks (your word). I'm sure if its something you invested in, regardless of how the show works or not, it wouldn't stop you from getting emotional. But then again, maybe your different.

Pretty good analysis.

I still think the winner of the competition will be Elliott Yamin. He is sensational. The best performances of this past week were Mandisa, Taylor and Ace. I am not a fan of Ace but he sang "Butterflies" very well, and the dude has huge stage presence.

My prediction of the order of talent:

12. Kevin - "Chicken Little". He can sing but is nowhere near the rest of the talent in this competition.

11. Bucky - His Country Rock is mediocre. Good on some nights bad on others.

10. Melissa - Has a strong deep voice. But is a dime a dozen.

9. Kathrine - Has great personality but very little originality. I think her vocals will be tested singing other things besides Pop.

8. Chris - Has a nice voice but is kind of boring to me. I literally fell asleep while he sang on Wednesday night. Well it was 11:45pm:o , but he does not hold my attention like the other contestants.

7. Kellie - It is from Kellie up where the cut off point is for the real talent. She is adorable, very pure in her approach. has not sang a bad note yet. She can win.

6. Lisa - She started this past phase of the competition like gang busters. But the last couple of weeks she has slipped. Very broadwayish. She sings her songs like it is a Disney movie (Lion King, Alaadin) you know the kind of songs I am talking about. But she has talent. But she better not make a mistake.

5. Ace - Has movie star looks, and Justin Timberlake attitude. Can sing Pop and R and B. The ladies love Ace, and for that alone he will be around for awhile.

4. Taylor - Big time performer. His enthusiasm is off the chain. Will be intresting when he branches out to other music beyond the 70's. As the competition continues, i think he is going to have to drop the Ray Charles, Joe cocker act. Yea, I said it, it is an act. Will America vote an American Idol with gray hair  . I don't think so.

3. Mandisa - SACRAMENTO IS IN THE HOUSE!!!! She has impressed me more and more. She can sing anything. Unfortunately she will fall victim to the Jennifer Hudson, Tamyra Gray, Trenyce, and Vonzell Solomon profile. That all African-American women sound alike profile. Fantasia Barrino was such a huge outstanding talent and huge presence, that she forced America's hand. We all know that the profile is completely false, but the profile is what it is.

2. Paris - She is different. She can win. She too can sing anything. Jazz, Gospel, Pop, R and B, and probably could rap if you asked her too. Her talent too me transcends singing, and it will show as the competition progresses. She has the stock, and she has the endurance. i do not know what happened to her the last couple weeks. I think she was bored. But the bigger the lights for her, the greater the performance.

1. Elliott - It is hard for me to describe this cat. But to me he is a professional already. If he sticks with what got him there (Jazz, R and B, and Standards). Elliott will be the 2006 American Idol. His voice is pure and for a man he can perform the Luther Vandross acrobatics with his voice, kind of like Ruben Studdard but in a smaller package.

It will be interesting to see what the stylists can do with him. I agree that he's got a great voice but I just don't "see" American Idol when I look at him.

I am not sure why but I think Elliot is kind of sexy. His teeth are a bit distracting though.

I can only assume that's she's talking about the other contestants. Obviously if someones life dream has just suffered a major setback they have a right to be a little upset. I didn't see anything from the 4 last night that was anywhere near excessive.

BUT, the last two weeks they've showed shots of the others (after the "loser" was announced) with a few of them crying hysterically, Paris and Lisa were the worst. I do think this is a little annoying and unnecessary. I understand that they've all become friends but it just seems a little over the top.

It's not a bad thing if someone cries, but couldn't she of done that backstage? These contestants know exactly how the show works and they know that they might or might not be back next week. They also know how tough it is to break into the entertainment industry and that you face a lot of rejection. Consequently, thicker skin is much needed if this is what they are choosing to pursue. It sounds cold-hearted, but it's the truth.

These are kids for the most part. A couple of months ago they were just going to class, flipping burgers, or whatever. For most of them this is their one shot to make it. I think it's expecting a little too much of them to act like seasoned professionals. I'm actually surprised they keep it together as well as they do.

Good point about them being beginners, that's very true.

More I think of it, more I feel bad for Gedeon leaving. I just found this on msnbc. I wish him the best and hope we hear from him again!

http://msnbc.msn.com/id/11752782/

"McKinney is a textbook example of a contestant who would have stood a much better chance had the producers chosen to tell more of his backstory. He was supposed to audition in Memphis in September, but the auditions were canceled because of Hurricane Katrina. The teenager then went to Chicago, after raising the money by holding a concert at the Yo! Memphis Academy of Visual and Performing Arts and getting a donation from a local police association.

He earned his ticket to Hollywood, but in December, before the semifinals, his father died. McKinney chose to stay in the competition anyway, and sang well each week. Perhaps had he gotten the airtime that Chris Daughtry and Taylor Hicks received before the semifinals started, that would have given him a fan base that would have carried him to the finals. "

Gedeon would have won that challenge, hands down.

I have felt badly before about contestants leaving too early, but this was ridiculous. I think he was clearly better than Kevin, better than Bucky and more interesting and different than a couple of others. Maybe not THE American Idol, but I think he deserved much better than what he got...

I hope at some point American Idol adopts the rule done by "Dancing with the Stars" and only allow a maximum of three votes per phone line.

We were only allowed to vote 5 times from our phone so maybe they are vf21. When Gideon got the boot my daughter almost cried, it was really not the right choice.

Ah, okay. I can rarely get through so the most I've ever been able to vote without falling asleep has been twice.

Good to know, ILV.

:D

I wonder if they do that with Cingular ??? I had cingular last season and I TEXT MESSAGE "1" vote for everyone but the one's I didn't like ..

i.e. .... if there were 14 girls and the lowest 2 were being voted off - I would vote for 12 girls ... and so on and so on. I was never sent a message that I had MET a limit ... I did receive a message saying my votes were going thru.

This year, I am waiting to vote "by phone call" when it's down to the final 12 - which is now (don't get on me - now) ... cuz I go to bed so dag-gone early and I don't have Cingular anymore.

For the most part, I'm okay with the Final 12 except for Kevin and I thought Ayla would last another week or two.

Next should be Bucky for the guys - give me a break - Bucky doing Stevie Wonder  Stevie is one artist, sorry to say - Kevin may do okay with.

For the girls, I'm guessing Melissa ... doesn't appear to be the R&B type to me.

I think it's just one total that goes home each week now, right? It's not separated into "boys" and "girls" anymore.

I agree Bucky is going to have a tough go this week.

I still think Kevin needs to go before anyone, including Bucky.

Yup, you're right - I'm confused - I even stated ONE AT-A-TIME, yet predicted two will go .... :o

I can't wait to hear Bucky do "You are the Sunshine of My Life" ;)

or Kevin with his rendition of "Superstitious"
