American Idol - the New Season

It's been a while since we had this thread, but after yesterday, I was reminded to start it back up.

Who do you like/not like/want to win?

What do you think of this year's show so far and do we like the twist to have the top 12 picked the way they were?

My favorites: Anwar and Kerry (I was in love with Mario, and hate him now that he left; have been hearing rumors about his departure).

Least favorites: Makaela (not sure if that's how you spell her name); that's about it.

Anyway, feel free to post opinions!! :)
 
Makaela was horrible and sooo deserved to get the boot. I hope there isn't going to be the continuing pattern of awful singers not getting kicked like last season's show. Bo Bice is my favorite. He's such a great performer.

Bo Bice IS really good; I always kind of liked him, but he really impressed me this past week. This season's cast (with the exception of Makaela) is so diverse but they're all pretty/really good - I think this year's winner will definitely be a surprise.
 
I like Bo Bice and want him to win but I doubt he will. That fat white guy is the greatest! But I can't remember his name. Aloha should have stayed and Mikaela should have been gone a long time ago. I can't stand her goofiness. I though Mario would have won it all but he left so now I think the music teacher guy, the country singer girl, or the firl with the 'fro will win. (I been following the show since it started and I still can't get the names straight, lol)
 
I was just WAITING for someone to start this thread up! Wasn't sure if it was something people would want to chat about or not...:o

I would have to say either Bo Bice or Anwar..the girls aren't very good this year IMO. I also think Nikko is kinda cute ;) Living here in England I have to wait until Friday to see the show so I always know who gets the boot before I get to watch! I really do try not to find out but as soon as I get on the computer it's EVERYWHERE.. kinda hard to avoid....
 
The only reason I am glad that Mikalah is still there is that it gives us another week where Simon will be brutally honest with her :) She is horrible.

I think guys are so much stronger than girls this year. I can't stand Scott. Everyweek I am expecting to hear some psycho fact about him....dude is weird.

I reall have no favorite guy and out of girls I like Carrie the best.

Is it true that Nikko Smith is Ozzie Smith's son?

They all suck this year!
BTW..what have you heard about Mario's departure?? ( He was someone who could actually sing...go figure)
 
Anwar is my favorite(that would be the music-teacher). Bo is good as well. Constantine is not exactly who I would call a "rocker" type of singer. I didn't think Niko should have been eliminated in the first place. The guys are definitely stronger than the girls this time.


As far as Mario: I've heard everything from him having already done an album to him having hired Clay Aiken's lawyers. In his case it wasn't like last year where they got rid of Frenchie or the guy who was convicted of beating up his sister.

I like Carrie and Bo...but there is also Nadia not far behind

Steve Savol is the fat white guy and he can sing classics and soul better than
pop (i think that will be his downfall)

Federov is annoying and needs to go, Mikalah as well "her nice little jewish girl routine is getting old and she needs to get the hook this week...

but i would say Bo has the lead right now!
 
Well The Nanny is as good as gone after that horrible performance tonight. Good thing my food already digested befor she sang :)

Alot of strong performances by others though.
 
I don't wanna spoil it for anyone so I won't go into details but Bo and Nadia do very well. Pretty much everyone did but that Bratz doll (mikalah) who should be going home tomorrow.
 
I thought Bo was boring - not bad, but boring.
I thought Carrie was fantastic, and that Niko, Vonzell and Scott were good.
Thumbs down to Anwar (what happened???!!!), Nadia (what was that?), Mikalah (she ruined that song), Constantine (ewe).

BUT I heard that they gave out the wrong numbers last night so the show will be re-done in some form today (that Anwar's number on the recap was Carrie's, Scott's was Jessica's, and somebody else).

P.S. I heard that Mario has signed a deal with Bad Boy Records, and is using Clay Aiken's old lawyer to get out of his American Idol contract.

I don't see how they gave out the wrong numbers-Carrie was the second performer, so she was listed as number two. I really don't think that the show would make that mistake because that would be catastrophic! That was the first show where just about everyone (exception the always awful Mikala) did a fantastic performance. They don't deserve to go home. I just hope Mikala is the one who finally does leave. The only thing that might keep her on the show is popularity. She is a high school student, so she could have the whole class population voting for her all night. It happened last season with some untalented high schoolers. It's very unfortunate.

New performance show to air Wednesday for re-vote

“American Idol” displayed incorrect phone numbers for three singers after Tuesday night's edition of the Fox show aired. At least one reality TV fan Web site, TVgasm.com, has announced that the network will air a new performance show Wednesday night (9 p.m. ET) and re-open the voting, with the results show moved to Thursday.

Screen captures of the episode show that incorrect phone numbers were listed for contestants Anwar Robinson, Mikalah Gordon, and Jessica Sierra. The phone numbers are always listed twice for each contestant, once as a number and once in a kind of shorthand, incorporating the letters on the phone that spell out IDOLS.

For Robinson, Gordon and Sierra, the numbers spelled out using letters were correct, but the complete phone numbers printed below those numbers were incorrect. Viewers who called the second numbers intending to vote for Robinson, Gordon or Sierra would be instead casting votes for contestants Anthony Fedorov, Carrie Underwood or Scott Savol.

The errors were not corrected before the show aired on the West Coast

All votes from Tuesday night will be thrown out and only the votes cast during Wednesday night's one-hour show will be used to determine the fate of the remaining contestants.

"American Idol" has not been free from controversy in the past. Earlier this month, finalist Mario Vazquez abruptly dropped out of the competition, citing "personal reasons." He was replaced by Nikko Smith. And last season, so many viewers complained that they could not get through on Fox's phone lines to vote that the network was forced to add more lines and extend the voting period.
 
Wow. That's a pretty big mistake. Well at least people will have the chance to rethink their votes and maybe make better decisions because Mikalah Gordon sucks and if she stays after last nights performance, the entire country should be penalized.

Bo is one of my favorites along with Carrie. However, I think Bo could of chosen a different song last night. The song he did was too soft and gentle, it just didn't fit him even though he did a good job.
 
i read today that they are just going to have all 11 sitting on couches on the stage with randy, paula & Simon and they are going to show video of tuesdays performances and get critiqued all over again...but it does not matter because the nanny needs to go!!!!!

Ozzie's boy needs to turn it up some, stop being a Bobby Brown Look alike.

Bye, bye!!! I liked her alot more in the auditions. She was dynamite. She is just young and bad now.

Constantine
Proved to me that he is a Keith Partdrige wanna be.

Nadia
She literally looks like a different person every time she gets on stage. Last night she looked like Foghorn Leghorn. But she can sing, did not like last night's performance

Scott
I like him, but he was OK

Carrie
She is not my favorite, neither is she my style, but she was very good last night.

Anwar
Not his best performance, but still is in the running.

The rest of them - Jessica, Federov and the mail girl from Florida (forgot her name) were OK at best. The Mailgirl from Florida was the best of the three.

Top Three Prediction: Carrie Underwood, Nadia Turner and Bo Bice.
 
Mikalah HAS to go! She makes my ears bleed. Her attitude is as bad as some of those in the auditions who stunk up the place and got mad because their "gift" wasn't being appreciated. Well, Mikalah may have a gift but it's not singing.

As far as Constantine goes, I thought his choice of song was PERFECT as a way of poking fun at the whole IDOL concept. As Paula explained last night, David Cassidy was one of the original heart-throb teen idols. The idea that Constantine chose one of Cassidy's biggest hits to use was really very clever. It's a shame not more people caught it.

I thought Jessica showed improvement, but Federov just keeps getting worse IMHO.

My bet is that Mikalah is gone, with the fewest votes ever garnered on any of the shows. Her performance was an embarrassment and her denial of the same was worse.
 
Oh, but we've seen worse performers who seem to stick around at Idol forever simply because they have a lot of friends with phones. I almost gave up watching Idol completely last season, there were so many poor performers who didn't get voted off while better performers got the axe. It seems to especially happen with the high schoolers who have their schoolmates backing them up (such as the awful Mikala). Here's to Bo and Carrie-they're the best of the bunch, and may they stick around to the end!
