All-Time best teams that fell short

Relatively new to this site so sorry if i'm repeating an old thread that most of you are familiar with. This is a thread to discuss the best NBA teams of all-time that didn't go all the way. One can argue that it is because they were'nt good enough or because they were victims of overwhelmingly dominant superstars/teams(Shaq, Russ, MJ, Bird, Johnson etc....), but bottom line is that they didn't close the deal when they were considered big time Contenders. Here's two I thought on top of my head, there's more but i'm gonna let them for you guys:

1990's Utah Jazz
2000-03 Sacramento Kings

everytime i read ur posts i laugh:p

Oh please. It wasn't Horry's fault. We went on to a game 7. We could have won then ... but somehow forgot how to shoot free-throws. Horry is not responsible for anything other than being in the right place (for them) at the right time ... but it wasn't in game 7.

You really need to let it go. Believe me. You're young. You'll have plenty more opportunities to mourn losses.

;)

Just the fact that we were soooooo close bugs me and just might for the rest of my life. and the worse part is that it will always give Laker fans something to say about the kings!!!! No matter how bad they do in a season it always comes up!

wasn't it 2-1? i forget. so long ago, i would stroke my grey beard and reminess... if a had a grey beard... so i will stroke my peach fuzz, and wonder... what if...

if he hadnt hit the shot the kings would have won..... being up 3-1 in the series i doubt that the series would have gone to 7 games....

but honestly, i blame kobe's elbow being fould by bibby's nose.... that was just wrong.....

Game 6 4th quarter actually pissed me off more than that horry shot... Now that game was just wrong.

how about the 3 pointer at half time by samake walker that went in, ahhhhhhhhhhhhh that was so bull but its over... its done, this has been brought up too many times this year.im done living in the past. Kings 05-06 Nba champs!!!!!

The many Laker teams of the 60's and 70's vs. the Celtics. They lost numerous game 7's by a margin of 1-5 points.

It's like when Sam Jones won Gm4 of the 1969 Finals at the buzzer with a frozen rope. People just remember Butch Von Breda Kolff keeping Chamberlain on the bench during the Gm7 comeback and Don Nelson hitting the high bouncer. I wasn't alive then, but I got mad historical perspective. So, yeah, it wasn't Horry. N'am saying?

Like when they had the chance to win the 1962 Finals at the buzzer, but Rod Hundley threw it into Frank Selvy instead of West. Gm7 goes to OT, Celts win by 3.

I wish I could've seen this cat play.

The TRAILblazers team with Clyde "The Glyde" Drexler that lost to Jordan in I think 91 and again to the Pistons some time around there.

I was pretty young... must have been about 9 or 10. I remember it though cause I was as big a basketball fan as you can be at 10 years old. The fan atmosphere in Portland at the time was as rabid as it was for the 2002 Kings. I remember making posters in class at my elementary school and posting them around the walls. Anyway, my little heart was was of course broken when Jordan did his thing. How ironic that it would be broken again by Phil Jackson while rooting for an Adleman led team over 10 years later in a new city. It's that damn Phil Jackson I tells ya. I just hate him so much. He really does have Adleman's number.

I ALWAYS bring that up. IT WAS CLEARLY AFTER THE BUZZER! If there was a God they would have reviewed that at the half and taken those points away.

They couldn't review shots until the following season.

i think miller and the pacers. they made it to the finals once i think. that's when they lost to the lakers in 2000. the pacers are still a good team as of today. if they don't win anything by 2010 (5 years) i will put them in the list as one of the best teams (behind sacramento; if they never win a ring) to have never won a ring in the 1st decade of this century.

Some of us like to think of those as "The Good O'l Days"
