All Star Rumor: Lamar Odom for Peja and Bobby Jackson

Lakers get: Peja and Bobby Jackson.
Kings get: Lamar Odom and Tierre Brown.
Lakers get: Carlos Boozer and a pick.
Utah get: Caron Butler, Devean George, and Vlade Divac*.
Vlade is supposed to have his contract bought out for 2 mil, and then he's supposed to resign with LA for the vet minimum.

A buddy of mine just sent that to me.
Not to bad, Kobe will hog the ball, Boozer is overated.. Peja... he cant do anything but shoot jumpshots.. not very scary at all

This is my nightmare.

tell me about it

I might be very wrong here but this would look like a building of the "triangle offense" - and we know who is behind it too.

God - I hate lakers

I don't know guys, usually if the Kings make a trade they just scream Petrie. This one has his name no where to be found, at least from my perspective. And if he is still in Europe as heard last week, is it prototypical of deals to be made overseas? RA is still lamenting over the fact that he still hasn't got Cuttino into the mix yet either. Now, he's going to give Petrie his blessings to trade another of his starters away too?

...Whatever makes the team better I am for, just don't know about this one.

Well, at least we're not bored. ;)

How ironic would it be for Pedja to arrive in LA just in time to wave goodbye to Vlade?

We have approximately 86 hours and 48 minutes left to speculate.

Is that the final trade of something?
I dunno. He's not an official source or anything. He's just a Laker fan and lives down there.

Here was his entire note.
-------------------
just heard it's a done deal. an LA laker insider reported that "a laker" has just notified them that he was told to pack up because he's been traded. pretty vague, but still. he calls it as:

Lakers get: Peja and Bobby Jackson.
Kings get: Lamar Odom and Tierre Brown.
Lakers get: Carlos Boozer and a pick.
Utah get: Caron Butler, Devean George, and Vlade Divac*.
Vlade is supposed to have his contract bought out for 2 mil, and then he's supposed to resign with LA for the vet minimum.

(tierre brown by the way, if you haven't heard of him, is a fantastic player. the dude can get to the hole anytime he wants. you can't stop his penetration, and he's also a great ball handler and 3 point shooter. he's a definite future star.)

i hate to see our guys go, but i think it's better for their careers. i don't think lamar, caron, and tierre would get to showcase their stuff playing with kobe. now they'll show their shyte. lamar's gonna make the already unselfish kings be insane, and teirre's gonna take over for bibby, give him a year.

don't like the trades at all. it's like EGO collision part 2. you take a team with good chemistry (horry, fox, fisher) and replace them with egos (malone and payton), make soup, and have ME barf at the results. whatever. hopefully we make the finals again and self destruct against a team that deserves it. like the cavs or some ****. i need a new sport.

until he says anything different to sway his previous comments. What else are ppl supposed to think. I am not going to go the same route you are and just hope his feelings have changed. He has said nothing about how he retracts his statements. just like if you call me an ******* today and don't say a word to me for 4 months. One has to assume you still think i am an *******.

Good points all.

And another thing we know about most Kings trades: YOU NEVER SEE THEM COMING!!!!!

This whole deal could be another tempest in a teapot, much ado about nothing, etc. The fact it's being bandied about virtually everywhere pretty much indicates it will never happen, if we go by past experience.

But it's something to talk about on a cold, rainy night...

:D

Rule number one in the manual of trading for dummies: Never trade players to a team in the division you are competing in, especially if it may make that team better.

You are assuming he would make a public retraction. WHY?

You do realize that 99.99% of all player-management discussions are held privately and that the leak to the media was the exception and not the rule, right?

There is every reason to think the chances are just as good that he and Petrie reached some kind of accord with the proviso that nothing be said publicly, which would be much more in keeping with the general way Petrie does business.

But this is ALL just speculation anyway. You could be right. All I'm asking of you is to admit you could also just as easily be wrong.

How can you guarantee it? Do you have insider knowledge out there on the East coast none of us are privy to?

The FACT is Webber almost didn't get off the plane. He told his dad he wouldn't play here. That was a FACT when it happened and subsequent events overturned that fact.

You simply DO NOT KNOW what Pedja is thinking now. Neither do I. Past facts are not necessarily indications of present facts.

All I'm trying to say is that you could be right OR you could be way off about what he's thinking, what he wants to do, etc. The FACT is we may never know the whole story one way or the other.

Just to make things more interesting - as long as we're reading Pedja's mind: The rumour is that Pedja is having some marital difficulties. Apparently his wife wants to spend more time in Greece (with the baby) and Pedja wants them to stay with him in Sacto. We know that Pedja bought his parents a house in his neighbourhood in order for them to be close by - and wify and the offspring are on the other side of the planet. Apparently Pedja sold apartment in Miami that he bought recently too (that was supposed to be a gift to his wife).

So, there, if the rumour has any substance, it is safe to say that Pedja is having a really bad year.

Who says our team won't be better? and the Tierre Brown part solidifies my questions about a backup PG. If it happens it will be scarey and risky to see what happens. But the way we have looked lately no one can honestly say we looked like a championship team.

I thought rule #1 was:

1. If you're a GM for a team in the NBA and you get an unexpected call from Geoff Petrie of the Sacramento Kings, do the following:
a. Change the locks on the doors.
b. Hide all your valuables.
c. DO NOT answer the call!!

I stand by my original statement that Peja will not be traded this season.

...Gah! It would be like A's breaking up the big 3!...Oh wait, they already did that! :(

I'm telling you this will happen! Why?? Because my wife bought me an authentic Peja jersey for my birthday!! After 20 years it's the first Kings jersey I've ever owned.. that's why it's going to happen!!:(

I don't think they're married, BTW.

I never said i was right. All i am saying is what i do know. Until i see something that tells me something different you have to stick with what you know not assume Petrie made amends with Peja. In fact this trade may have indeed been the amends with Peja.

Okay, to counter that here's the reason it won't happen:

I don't own a Pedja jersey.

:D

Maybe we'll cancel each other out...or give Petrie such a bad headache he'll just stay in Europe and forget the whole thing.

;)

Okay. You win. You're assuming everything remained the same. That IS an assumption, BTW, regardless of how you see it.

We shall at this point have to agree to disagree because you're just not seeing what I'm trying to point out.

We'll know in 86 hours and 38 minutes for sure anyway.

Hehehe...Kobe is just wishing for that trade to happen!:p
sure he's heard that rumor as well & tries to throw in his words' worth in the hope of influencing such if really there's truth to that.

i'm not up for it. we'd be giving a lot to a division & conference competitor & getting less. m sure other teams could & would have a better offer.

Yeah, I'm sure Kobe would LOVE to have another player on his team that he'd have to share the ball with, especially for those threes that Kobe just loves to put up for the home crowd.

;)

BTW, C4 - like the new shortened handle. :D

I have one thing we can agree on. I am just as scared as you that this is going to happen. So when things like this happen i start justifying it because if you bad mouth the trade and are so against it and it happens then guess what. You are an unhappy fan. You remember me with Mobley.

I don't know what we will look like with Odom or lakers with Peja. I know this. Something has to change we are not looking good right now and it was given ample time to adjust itself now maybe Petrie thinks its time to do his own adjustments.

Oh, that's right - common law marriage is not recognized in US.

I don't think Pedja has been together with her long enough for common law marriage. :D
