Afflalo and Brewer

What do you guys think of trading Thornton and Hickson for Afflalo and C. Brewer?

It will give us a great defender and 3pt shooter at SG. He's not a ball dominant player and knows his role as well which might be a better fit next to Evans.

Brewer is a player I have always liked. He has great size (6'9") and athleticism for a SF. He's an excellent defender and a very hard worker on the court. He is shooting 43% from 3pt land this season. His jumpshot has been his biggest weakness in past seasons so hopefully this is a sign that his shot is progressing. Also considering the Nuggets want to re-sign Chandler, I don't think Brewer will be too valuable to them when they have Gallinari and Chandler back.

Hickson has been a bit of a disappointment for us, but he definitely can be a valuable piece on another team.

If we Amnesty Salmons, release Greene, re-sign Thompson, sign Batum, and draft a big man next offseason, our lineup could look like this:

PG Evans/Thomas/Fredette
SG Afflalo/Garcia
SF Batum/Brewer/Honeycutt/Outlaw
PF Rookie Big Man/Hayes
C Cousins/Thompson/Whiteside

This team definitely has the potential to be great.

Great for us, terrible for DEN. Why would they do this? They would essentially be trading for an expiring, and getting a worse player for their style than Afflalo. I like Brewer too, but the only way they move him is for a fantastic bench player with upside (Jimmer) or a lottery pick- which I don't see us doing. That is, of course, they take a bad contract back (Salmons or arcia) and give us Miller for the expiring.

A player like Thornton is vital once the team returns to the playoffs remember Bulls vs C's Ben Gordon came close to sending them packing and there is no way Dallas could have accomplished what they have without Jason Terry. We will regret moving him down the road remember he is still a raw talent and has much more untapped potential. I like where your heads at with Afflalo thou he would be a great fit.

Gotta agree with Kev here. Why would Denver do this? And why would we trade Thornton right after signing him to a big contract? By the way, Chandler said the other day that he has no intention of returning to Denver. I can't blame him to some extent if he's looking to be a starter. So I really doubt they'll get rid of Brewer.

I thought I saw exactly the opposite, that he DID intend to return to Denver. Did I read it wrong?

I stand corrected. I went to Sam Amicks blog, and it appears I misread it. I still don't think Denver would be interested in the trade.
