AEG & Live Nation bid to manage Oakland's arena and stadium

Could be a very good thing.

The LA Kings and Staples Center are the foundation of AEG and they knew what they were doing from the get go. A multi purpose facility in downtown LA with the Lakers as co tenants was a no brainer of a cash cow but they realized what it could do for them on a national level. They creatively book events around the nation with the promise of getting preferable dates at Staples Center. So at the end of the day, for every act that plays at Staples, you can pretty much bet the house that they played at the Sprint Center in KC a week or two earlier. As a result, you get a profitable KC building despite the lack of a major tenant.

Now that AEG is taking over in Oakland, it could mean that they want to use it as a connection to Sacramento as well. For all we know, the money that they anticipate making in Oakland will help bridge the funding gap for a Sacramento arena.
