Adelman will not be Fired, But Should He Be?

Notice Shaq didn't have a dominating performance this game. This was an equal opportunity drubbing by the Heat.

Mostly in part to the double teaming we had to do on Shaq. We got killed at the 3 point line tonight and most of those were WIDE open b/c we double teamed Shaq.

Adelman should have put in Tag and there is NO excuse as to why he didn't. Hopefully they trade Tag in the offseason to a team that may need a big paint filling rebounding shot blocker b/c apparently the Kings don't need that.

Geoff Petrie should be fired. What did anybody expect this team to do after shedding the bench one year (Hedo, Jackson, Clark) and the starting lineup the next (Vlade, Webber, Christie).

If you expected better you were dreaming. This is Geoff's fault, not coach Adelman's

This is so true. But I also think playing Tag on Shaq would've left other perimeter defenders available instead of double teaming. Like another poster said we got killed by all the wide open threes. Sometimes I wonder about Adleman...

I've made my feelings known about Adelman for a long time so I won't regurgitate everything I have said. I did find it interesting that Tag did not even play against Shaq.....at all. Tag was in the game and then Shaq came in so what does Adelman do?? Takes him out and puts Skinner back in(who did a good job but was really overmatched). Not sure the reasoning behind that.

Well years back Shaq slaped Tag at a regame shoot arround, maybe Tag refuses to play against him?

Well it didn't stop him from badgering him in the last game. He plays really well against Shaq and is the only guy in the league, besides Dampier, that can muscle up with the guy.

I was just having a little fun at Tag's expense, check myposts and I think you will see where I stand on Tag.

I know! I feel like we are the only ones sometimes that actually think Tag has a use besides a human seat warmer.

Early on when RA PLAYED Tag lots of posters jusmed on the Tag band wagon, then the broken hand, now he is teh Big Dog in Adelmans Dog House... go figgure.

Then when he plays 4 min. a game people complain about his lack of production. Just like anyone else its just as hard for Tag to get things going with virtually no court time. Basketball is a rhythm game based a lot on timing.

wow, what is up with you guys and your obsession with putting things in other threads?
I think adleman is a good coach just not great coach, and I am asking a question about if you think that he should be behind the 8 ball? I mean some coaches coach better when there job is on the line.
It is kind of strange that the kings losing ways directly coincide with his extension.
Are you trying to say that Adelman stopped caring if we win or lose when he got his ONE YEAR extension. I'm sorry but he knows that 1 year will fly by and his job is always on the line! And after all the years in Sac do you not think Rick wants a Ring as much as we do? Also I think our "losing ways" began when the trades started, which does make sense.

Can't we at least wait until the end of the season to see how all this works out before we post threads like these ?

But geez...that would be far too rational.

No but I am saying that it is strange and coincedental. I am not saying that he stopped caring but maybe he is more relaxed in his coaching. or it could be the opposite, he might be pressing to much in his coaching.

lol, I think the trainer(s) should be traded, too many injuries this season.

:D If we traded the trainer everytime there were too many injuries, we'd have at least 4 different trainers every year. :p

Ahhh! Another voice of reason. Stoj, we honestly do not have enough of these around here lately. Thank you for your rational input. :)

I don't think anyone should retract anything. adleman did a great job of subbing and coaching today, and calling time outs when he needed to.

Myself this was what I have been asking of him the whole time. I have alwasy liked adleman but he just has some stretchs of games where he seems to fall into a rut and them team does not have the players it once had to bring them out of it.

great win today for the kings

The point is he's done this kinda thing a lot over the years... The guy just wins games, and with the weekly decimated/changing lineups over the past couple years the fact he continues to make adjustments and win consistantly shows he knows a hell of a lot more about coaching in the NBA thean you do.

yes adleman does know more than me about coaching in the nba. but I have also been a high school coach for 10 years myself and I know the ebbs and flows of the game.

I for one thing thought that this woul be the one game that Tag would play. When you play against Shaq you need to throw body after body to wear him out.

Listening to Dallas complain about good ol' dirk not playing and getting beat up by Houston ...

This is a great testimony to how great Adelman really is....

He deals with this stuff constantly ... ya know, like your 7' all-star center being injured and still kicking soom booty!!!!!!

The guy shows great poise and dodges this team around bullets that make other coachs go WWAAAAAHHHH BOOO HOOO HOOO.

He may not be the absolute greatest coach of all time, but he's pretty darn good!!!!!!!

(Oh yea, didn't he coach an all-star team not long ago :) )

When will you all get the idea TAG is not going to save our season. This continues to kill me.

sometimes I wonder about Adelman too. I get frustrated with Adelman's rotations, with him not calling time outs when I think he should, and worry that our guys don't get enough rest. BUT, I think it's easy to second guess almost anything, and I honestly think he does a great job. Look at what he's done with Skinner, Williamson and Thomas. The 76 fans are over there shaking their heads, because they didn't know these guys could play like this. Why? Because their coach never utilized them well. Adelman seems to draw out the very best each player has to offer, and I think that's pretty amazing.

Good points. I think we were all a little frustrated after that loss the other day. Glad to see the Kings bounce back like that. As for retractions, well I DID say that I would reserve judgement til after the Kings had a practice together with the new guys. And my judgement is the Kings, when focused, are still teh win :D

What is up with this guy and his rotations? he has a 7'2" center in ostertag yet he does not play him on shaq the entire game?
Shaq hates playing ostertag because he his a big body he cannot totally push around. and yet ostertag did not play 1 min with shaq in the game. adleman continue to play shaq with a 6'9" guy in skinner.

Ostertag would be get dominated by shaq.He is good enough to know how to get his points and make tag foul out.Shaq would just be too quick for tag,and its not like shaq is a weak person either.Adleman has his resons for doing what he does, but i do agree that he should have played him just to give skinner a break.

Ostertag being the exception. Adelman doesn't play the guy much because he can't play long, he's out of shape.
