why not go after him? Bulls are in lux tax hell, we could throw a 2 year 1.5 million per year with team option for 2nd year type deal his way, and he'd probably bite and Chicago would be unlikely to match IMO. He'd be a good back-up behind Hawes.

I don't know if I'd pay him that much. He's Joe Kleine part two. He's be OK for 10 minutes a game maybe. At least he takes up space under the basket. I don't know If I would want to commit to him for two years, so I do like the idea of the second year being a team option.

No thanks.

We had a "takes up space under the basket" center a couple of years ago, remember? I'm not looking for the Kings to pick up another one, especially giving him a 2-year contract.

Look at the free agent or unclaimed draft picks for a really cheap body if necessary, but don't tie up a 2-year contract for anyone just so he can pretend he's a tree.

Well I was trying to be nice for a change. No! I really wouldn't want Gray on the team. And to be truthful, I think Kleine was more athletic.

Not that I'm advocating Gray but seriously how high of a standard are we really going to hold our backup center to? We really just need a warm body to throw out there for 10-15 mpg.

Reading is helpful, I said a 2 year deal WITH a TEAM OPTION, thus making it a one year deal where the team in in control with whether or not to keep him that additional year.

I don't think the OP suggested that we be tied up for 2 years. You don't get tied up for 2 years if the second year of the contract is team option. So, there really is no truth in this response that we'll be paying for 2 years for someone just so he can pretend he's a tree.

IMO, this offer would be reasonable if the salary we offer is not as high. Maybe a 1M for the first year, and 1.5M on 2nd year ( if we exercise the team option ) would be far more reasonable for a 7 footer scrub who will be playing 10-12 minutes a game the most.
