A.V. | Udrih Does Not Deserve to be Starter

The Udrih I saw last night was well worth the money he's being paid.

You guys need to really be careful what you wish for. If Beno THIS SEASON plays as well as he did last year we're still not in the playoffs and we're not in the running for the top lottery picks, either. If he's gonna have an off season I'm just as glad it's this year and not next year or the year after.

He is competent, although not perfect, and I think he'll do much better with an established bunch of players around him.

The blaming needs to stop. He needs to point the finger at himself every once in a while. This is not his first time pointing the finger at his teammates. Yelling at them on the court or glaring at them doesn't solve the problem either.

But, what if he was right, and it was the other players fault. Isn't the job of a leader to lead by example & to call out his teammates when they are in the wrong. I'm not defending the way he called out other players. Certainly, doing it while the other team is running down the court for a layup, is wrong. But, the guy is new at it, so maybe he'll learn.

On a side note: My little brother use to always cause trouble, and somehow my mom would always blame me. I'd glare at my brother but he'd never take the blame. Maybe Beno's tired of Natt blaming him for the way the offense is running, when it really isn't all his fault.

Beno is a good PG but not a starter, only if they would have extended his contract or something for one more year or 2, see what he does then offer him the contract he has. We are getting in a mode to sign guys to contracts after they havent proven themselves for multiple years.... just 1.

I think Beno is the type of point guard where he gets better as the team gets better. Once we get a few more pieces to this team and become respectable again that is when he'll blossom a lot more.

Beno WAS the best available at the time. He had not been a starter at the Spurs and had only bench experience. Now two different coaches in two years is tough but for an essentially rookie PG with 4 yrs under his belt, even tougher. But PG's do need the players to get open to create more ops. I can see why coachie is frustrated. Most of the players don't move well (yet?) to get open and don't seem to have the experience to make an opening. Next year will tell.
