I like Adelman, I've never disliked him or the way he coaches. But quick question. Howcome whenever the team calls a time out I've noticed that Adelman rarely talks to the players. The players usually go and talk amongst eachother and Adelman talks with the coaches. Shouldn't he be talking to the players about the next coming plays? I've never understood that. Anyone care to explain this to me?

Like Greg Pop, and most other great coaches I see are always in the players faces telling them exactly what's going on, and what's going to happen next and Adelman seems to just have a conversation with the coaches and the players usually just sit around and do whatever until the time out is over.

I think what you are referring to is when they first call the time out and you see Rick go out onto the court and starts talking to his coaches and the players go off to the side. I wondered this for a while until I realized that he talkes to his coaches to see if they have any input and then he will sit down with his players and the chalk board.

^Correct. All coaches does this. Even Pop.

Oh okay, that explains that. I'm guessing once he finally goes to the bench and starts talking to the players is when we're enjoying our little commercial breaks and that's why I'm not seeing him go speak with the players directly.

i notice that to, he probably thinks its better if the players talk about whats going on cuz after all there the ones getting first hand experince of what is really happening out there.

Yeah I noticed that while at the game on Sat. night. He talks to the coaches first and then goes to the players with his clipboard.

On a side note, why do they call them 20 sec timeouts when they really last for like a min.

Well, the timeout itself (like when the coach talk with the players) should last 20 seconds. This is usually done when the coach just want to quickly stretch a play for the players. Maybe it just feel longer cause you also included the players getting out of their seats and walking back to court? ;)
