I was wondering if anyone could dig up how much worse we are now since SAR and Bonzi went out with injuries. I know the team wasn't that good before injuries, but I wanted to see a breakdown of 1. the record with only SAR in, 2. the record with only Bonzi in, 3. the record with them both in, and 4. the record since they've been out.

If anyone can help me with this I'd appreciate it.

Lot of numbers there, but I do know Bonzi has been out 10 games and we are 4-6 in those games. Reef has been out 8 and we are 4-4 in those games. Peja has been in and out of the lineup during that time though. We were 10-15 before Bonzi got hurt, lost the next 2 games and were 10-17 prior to Reef going down. So pretty much we sucked before and we still suck now.

Yeah, you figure we were 10-15 before we lost Bonzi, and then Reef a couple of games later. 10-15 = .400. And now we are 14-21. Still .400. That's just kind of been us, .400. Win 2 for every 3 we lose. Which at the end of the season should work out to about .4 x 82 = 32.8wins.

I think that we are still capable on going on a 10 game losing streak

i think we are capable with bonzi and reef to go on a 10 game winning streak. I am just waiting for something to click

I just looked at the schedule and at no point in the season we will play Clippers 10 straight - hence impossible. Even in our best years we won 10 straight 10 times once or twice. Deffinitely no more than twice

Look at it this way. It's only Jan. 14 and we've already equaled one of our statistics from 2002.

Yep, we already have 21 losses...and there are still three months left of basketball to be played!!!

We aren't a good team. It doesn't boil down to whether or not Bonzi is on the court, or SAR, or Peja. We aren't a good team.

Embrace it or deny it...it's pretty clear.

In a way it does boil down to who is on the court because its all about chemistry. Regardless if each new line up has sucked, one of them must work better than the others. I'm just trying to figure out which line up is the best once these guys get back because it was obvious the starting five of Bibby, Peja, Miller, SAR, Bonzi wasn't getting it done.

No matter how hard you try to combine them, it isn't going to work.

I played a practical joke on my brother back when we were in our teens. I took one of his favorite jigsaw puzzles - which he dearly loved to do - and exchanged about 1/3 of the pieces with those from one old puzzle of mine, making sure the pieces at least looked as though they might work.

No matter how hard he tried, and how often he started over, he couldn't complete the puzzle. The pieces looked good, but they just didn't fit together.

That's the problem with our current roster.

...

And if my brother sees this, I'm probably going to hear about it.

You're missing the point. I'm not trying to say there is a certain fix that will turn this team around, it is obvious that will not happen how they are currently constructed. I'm just looking for the best starting five they could field.

The best starting five will change, depending on what team we face, because we have integral weaknesses that cannot be overcome. The best PF, for example, might be KT on one night and SAR on the next. The best SF might be Bonzi, with Martin at the 2, in some situations - especially if Peja just clearly isn't going to be effective.

Cold... Just Cold

I like it.

Adelman is not the kind of coach that is going to manipulate the lineup very much at all. He goes with pretty much the same thing every game regardless of who is hot or playing well at the time or who maybe has a good matchup according to who we are playing. I wish he could be more creative.

I know. sanity was looking for the best starting five they COULD field. I was saying that would change, depending on whom we faced. I didn't say it WOULD change. That's one of the few things I've never agreed with about Adelman's style of coaching. Up until recently, however, his style has won games even when we were really hampered by injuries, so I had no room to complain. This year, however, the combination of injuries and a totally ineffective bench for the most part has combined to put us where we are today.

I'd like to see more creativity in handling the situation but I'm not a top-ranked NBA coach. I'm not aware of all the factors he is prvvy to. I'm sure he has valid reasons for everything he's doing - it's just his luck has seemed to run out. He keeps reaching into the hat and pulling out rabbit poop instead of a rabbit.

;)

This team has still not found an indentity. Nor have they had the chance to.
