2nd Coming of FANS

Surprise...surprise...surprise. Just when some thought we were a one trick pony or one and done, we the FANS showed up out of no where.

We made our debut on December 13, 2011, at a Sacramento City Council meeting. We shocked the council, citizens and media with what we did.

Here is what we accomplished with our theme of "Bigger Than Basketball."

@JayMarZZ @galtdave Jeffrey Johnson and myself all met a few days before Dec 13 to discuss what we wanted to accomplish.

@JayMarZZ and I later discussed strategies on what to do next. It was like playing a game of chess by knowing what your next move will be.

Meaning we needed to know in advance what moves we would make before making our first strike.

Following the success of Dec 13th, we set our site on a day when there would be no arena on the agenda.

Others wanted to join the #FANS movement including big business leaders who either reached out to us or we reached out to them.

I watched previous council meetings and studied what the council members said while listening to key words they used.

@JayMarZZ & I agreed when we appear at city hall, we should do a mini-power point presentation but this time using keywords by the council.

And in turn give each council member a white #FANS T-shirt with something they were passionate about when it came to the arena &...

everything it can bring to the citizens of Sacramento. Once we found out there would be no arena issue on Jan 17 we set that as our target.

We also took a calculated risk by showing up unannounced and by keeping it a secret only to those who were invited to come with us.

@JayMarZZ and I not only met with big business leaders but also hit the streets to talk to every day people and local small biz owners.

@JayMarZZ & I will continue to meet with anyone and everyone who would like to join us with our theme of "Bigger Than Basketball."

Dec 13 was just the beginning.

Jan 17 we grew & accomplished our mission. #FANS

A few #FANS were missing from both pictures but you can see how united and organized we are for something that just came together recently.

Take a close look at our shirts. Keywords like community, local $, future, pride, revitalization, jobs, vision, economic engines...

when you put all those pieces together the puzzle is complete. The facility is all about Sacramento. It's that simple. #FANS

Here is @JayMarZZ & I speaking before the council. #FANS

We got just 2 minutes to speak. We began at the 12 second mark and ended at 2:52. We went over our allotted time of 2 minutes by 40 secs.

And at no time did @KJ_MayorJohnson ask us for our final thoughts and the audience didn't stop us from continuing past our time.

That right there said a lot about what we were able to accomplish. @JayMarZZ & I cannot remember a time that has ever happened before.

I'll let @JayMarZZ give his thoughts when he's ready but I can tell you as I was up close to the council I saw so many smiling faces.

We even got Sandy Sheedy to smile as we presented her with a shirt of "The People." That was no easy feat but we accomplished that goal too.

We took a HUGE risk with Jan 17 and SMI/Charter but it paid off. We just wanted to show up at the matters not on the agenda.

We wanted to show the council, citizens and media that we do not need to be present when the arena is on the agenda.

We wanted to remind everyone that we have not forgotten about the arena and to not forget about us because we are not going away.

I want to thank everyone who helped us make Jan 17th a success. There are too many to list but you know who you are. Thank you. #FANS

Without each and everyone of you there would have been no way we could have pulled off Dec 13 and Jan 17. Again, thank you. #FANS

If you would like to be a part of what we are trying to accomplish please feel free to ask @JayMarZZ or myself. We welcome you. #FANS

I have been a @WWE fan since 1984. I got the T-shirt and code ideas from @WWE so that explains that.

Also, if a @WWE wrestler wants to remain relevant he has to reinvent himself. Otherwise you become yesterday's news.

For example look at our first #FANS picture from Dec 13th. We all have @SacramentoKings gear on.

Now look @ our Jan 17 #FANS picture. BIG difference. We're not hiding we're Kings fans. It's "Bigger Than Basketball."

I am very proud of what we have accomplished inside city hall. Our message is loud and clear on what this is all about: SACRAMENTO. #FANS

BRAVO!!! These next couple-few weeks will probably be the most crucial in this whole process, lets keep up our enthusiasm and efforts for our city and.for our team!!

Mike and others have done a fabulous job organizing everything. Kudos to all! :D

The February 14th city council meeting is really almost a drop dead date in this process. The will vote on whether to issue a request for bids on the parking, the major financial piece. I believe they may also vote on how that money will be used at the same time. I hope so, anyway. We should have a much better picture on sources of other financing (e.g., AEG, Maloofs/NBA, developer, local businesses) at that meeting, too.

If they vote not to go out to bid on the parking, though, then the deal is dead. I really hope anyone who hasn't come to a city hall meeting will try and make it that night and/or encourage other supporters to attend. This is the most crucial meeting in our history with an arena and with the Kings. I'm taking vacation time for work to be there extra early. I expect it to be crowded (naysayers, too.)

If I ever needed a justification for finally getting broadband internet, this was it. Watching those two clips made me incredibly proud of you - the FANS. Mike and company, I'm very glad you're representing not only the Sacramento fans but those of us miles away who cannot attend but whose hearts are with you. You guys rock.

Mike and FANS, thank you for a great job before the City Council. Your video is a must see for Kings fans. I really appreciate your hard work, innovation, and presence before Sacramento. Thanks.

Thank you to everyone who has replied to this thread.

To everyone who is reading this all I can say is this:

WE STILL NEED MORE HELP.

If you are interested in helping out please contact me. We would like our membership (it's free with no application) to grow so we can show the council, citizens and media we are the majority and we want this to happen for all the things we are FANS of.

I just want to reiterate Mike's plea here. It's easy. He sends you an email; he tells you the plan. All you need to do is give your time to show your support. Please contact Mike.

Yep. He has done the heavy lifting here. And it shows support for the arena push. PLEASE show up at the CC meetings. We hang out, laugh at some of the inane public speakers (and boy, are there some doozies), and do our thing. It's all good.

Wow, amazing job people! Thank you so much for doing what you do! The Arena movement needs people like your on the front lines. Good job!!
