2009 SF Giants Thread

It sounds like Freddy is our main target now ... him or nobody. I'd like to have some more power but I guess one more solid contact hitter is Ok too.

I am not crazy about him but he is a solid player (and we need that) and he will improve our weak offense and provide solid defense at 2B. I hope we will not give up a lot to get him and what about Uribe? We will move him to a SS position? Util-man?

The lineup has conctact hitters, so I'm not that excited about any player that doesn't add power, but I guess as long as he doesn't cost a prime prospect...

Unfortunately, our contact hitters do not make contact :(, therefore they usually hit .250 or something like that. So, it never hurts to get a .300 guy .. but I am just not crazy about Freddy. Good player, will help us BUT he is not a change-maker and we need that. However, if we do not wanna trade a prime guy, than I am Ok with Freddy ... better with him than without him.

It looks like we are getting Freddy Sanchez barring a physical.

I expect to see Freddy Sanchez in a Giants uni within a couple days.

All I ask is that Sabean stays the hell away from Bumgarner, Posey, Villalona and Alderson.

Son of a *****.

We couldn't have packaged Barnes and Alderson and a vet for something better than Garko and Sanchez???

Please don't be another Piezinski, Sanchez.

Sanchez is...
Going to be a Pierzynski of 2B.

Hits for decent average, decent defense, no power, no speed...
As long as he isn't called out as 'cancer' by the end of the year it will already be a step up.

Freakin A...Barnes and Alderson should have been PACKAGED for something better.

We upgrade from (roughly) the 30th ranked offensive 1B to like the 27th, and then we get a 2B who is average at every aspect of his game.

In Sabean we trust.

And hearing Bip Roberts drooling over him was making me sick. he's not that great.
Arrg.
Give me my pitchfork...

While I don't like giving up Alderson, Sanchez is better than some of you are making him out to be.

He's one of the best 2nd baseman in the MLs and he is a 3-time all star. He is also a career 300 hitter.

He won the NL hitting title in 06 while racking up 200 hits and he had 11 HRs and 85 RBIs in 07.

While he won't be our cleanup threat, he will greatly improve our offensive productivity.

I read on Giantsboard.com that he has either a 8 or 10million dollar vesting option for next year.

Which means (If he stays) that we are paying more for Sanchez than Orlando Hudson, who we could have just gotten this offseason WITHOUT giving up our second best pitching prospect. And Hudson is the better player.

Bad all around from our great GM.
Amazing we are 10 games over .500 with Sabean at the helm.

The more I read about this trade the more im pissed the **** off.

Everyone is saying exactly what we said in that we could have gotten something much better had we packaged Alderson. Makes you wonder, if everyone and their brother see this as being lob-sided, why the **** doesn't Sabean!!?

Wow the Giants are hitting the ball hard tonight! Even the outs seem to be line SHOTS straight to a glove.

7-1 over the champs going into the 6th!

Oh, and the newest Giant?
Not activated because he has a sprained knee ligament. He's considered 'Day-to-Day'

Really looking forward to tonight's game against Philadelphia. Cliff Lee gets start for the Phillies after just coming over from Cleveland where he was last seasons AL Cy Young winner. Only thing better would have been a match-up against reining NL Cy Young Tim Lincecum. Instead the Giants send Ryan Sadowski to the hill where hopefully he can get back to his sensational early form. He hurled two straight shutouts to begin his rookie season debut and since it's been very spotty, to say the least. Now 2-3, Sadowski has recorded as many walks as strikeouts. GO GIANTS!

Sadowski actually escaped with only 1 ER. Now, we need to find a way to start hitting Lee.

The last thing I want to see is a national TV love-affair with a Lee No Hitter in his first start as a Philly.

Giants lose to Phillies 5-1. Lee dominate, no real surprise. Heck, they desperately wanted to snag Halliday a weeks ago but Lee is just as good - and that's sayin' a lot. Hopefully tomorrow Lincecum is just as ON and the Giants HIT!
