You know, at some point you just have to move on. I don't need to watch the 2002 playoffs any more. I don't even need to talk about the 2002 playoffs any more.

Seeing Webb and Vlade have their jerseys raised to the rafters gave me closure. I was able to stand and yell myself hoarse for Doug, something I hadn't been able to do since his departure.

It's over. You can close the book and put it back on the shelf. I'm looking forward to the new book...

I think this is like the Red Sox thing. No matter how much time passes, there's never real closure until the team actually wins. You can't tell them to forget Buckner. That's how I feel at least. Watching those jerseys go up was a great moment, but there's still that hole that will never be filled.

Fixed...

Im also done focusing on how painful this series was/is. I cant wait until we one day win it all to forget about it completely and move on. Its getting pretty close to a decade folks...close the book, or better yet attend a different Library.

Nothing wrong with watching some good ol classic games. Thanks for posting.
Yeah, every once and a while I fire up YouTube for a couple games...most memorable probably being Game 5 of course...and Game 3 against Minny in 2004 when Peja was hitting everything from the parking lot, and was clutch for one of the few times in his career(even though he choked at the line that game and we lost). But...I pretty much moved on once we traded Miller/Salmons, because I knew that was the definite sign of a major rebuild, and we had finally turned the page and were moving forward.

I think that new book is not going to be written anytime soon, so we have some time for good old memories:D

Kidding aside, I think that it's important for us never to forget that special team and special players from 2002. but of course, we really need to look at the future and to try to build something in the present, cuz' this is getting frustrating

I didn't say nor did I mean to imply that we forget about that team. A mere glance in my living room, for example, would prove the lie to any such assertion on my part. What I'm saying is that part of Kings history is over and done. We need to let it go and open the book that will tell the story of the now and the future. We don't know the plot or how the book will end, but we're in the beginning where the characters start to be introduced.

I'm not frustrated at this point. I'm excited about the future. I'm looking forward to seeing what draft pick Chris Webber is able to secure for us (and yes, I know his presence there is simply honorific and has no actual bearing on the lottery). I'm looking forward to seeing who our new head coach will be. I'm looking forward to seeing what players we get in this year's draft and how Petrie decides to fill out the rest of the roster. I'm looking forward to seeing how the new players come together and how Jason Thompson, Spencer Hawes and the rest of our core group improves.

What was frustrating to me was the 2007-2008 season. In fact, if I had to name a season I disliked the most as a Kings fan, that would be it.

2002 was a great time to be a Kings fan. I loved every single minute of it although if I had known how quickly it would all end, I would have made sure to enjoy it even more...

...

Oops. Sorry for the long-winded reply. I love our Kings and I just want people to share that passion.

:)

I have absolutely no problem watching old video. That is why we have stuff like ESPN Classic. As a matter of fact, I wish Comcast could go through the archives and have a Kings Classic Program maybe once a month reliving the past.

It is the talking about it that drives me up the wall. I hate when people on sports talk bring up the old team like it is relevant for today. Ailene "Poison" is bad with that. She could be writing about the 49ers, and she will still bring up Chris, Vlade and Peja. It is time to move on....mentally. But to watch old stuff, I am down with that. Thanks.

What I hate is people trying to compare our players today and in the future to players in early 2000s. It's fine seeing a great series, even if it didn't turn out so well.
