12/4 Games around the NBA

#1
I didn't get to see any games tonight, but here's some observations I made while looking up box scores:

NUGS 104, HEAT 95 - Earl Boykins racks up a 16 pt, 2 rb, 6 assist, 5 steal game in 32 minutes but that isn't so unusual. Here's what's weird...Earl actually had the highest number of free throw attempts, or seven. Isn't that a very low number of highest ft attempts? It's certainly no surprise that Boykins had at least 4 fouls committed on his person, but no one had more?

MAVS 109, JAZZ 86 - WOW, Dampier...Thanks goodness for his 9 boards (5 offensive), or he may get the booby prize of the night for production. In 36 minutes: 6 points (on 3-7 shooting), 3 assists, no trips to the line, 0 steals, no blocks and 8 turnovers.

And my personal fav, Lebron...26pts/6rebs/10assist (are assists usually listed after rebounds, or vice versa?) - 2 steals and a block. Okay, and 2 turnovers, but I'm a Lebron homer, so who's counting...not me. Anyway Lebron is all-star, hall-of-famer in the making and a 19 year old millionaire
with a 25 year old body and a 30+ year old brain. Probably 30++

;)

Anybody see anything interesting tonight?

I saw Earl Boykins doing laps around Shaq... It was great. Shaq looked like an elephant being harassed by a gnat.

It's amazing to me how Boikins gets around everyone, just a little Speedy Gonzalez, no one can catch him! He's one of my favorite players to watch. He can do it all; draws defenders, strong passer & shooter, takes it to the hole on a regular basis! All 5'5" of him, I'm taller than he is! It's amazing to me cause I've been close to those big guys and they seem like GIANTS (especially when they're all together). But he dribbles around them like they are giant albatrosses, cause to Boykins that what they are, compared to Earl's lightning quick speed. It's fun to watch him.

This is why... NBA players are NOT as fast as they seem. Sure, Boykins is fast, but a lot of regular smaller guys that you can see play pick up ball would seem a lot faster comparing to people who are 6'7, and especially someone like Shaq.

Yep. NBA guys are just ridiculously fast for being so ridiculously tall. I've played against a lot of 5'6" PGs who were far quicker than Kobe Bryant (man, remember this one guy who just went by "E" who just had the ball on a STRING) , and there are 6'3" centers in high schools across then country with far greater skills than Gereg Ostertag. Difference is just that the NBA guys combine the skills they have with tremendous heighth and jumping ability.

Depends on the position. Front line players it goes pts/brds/assts guards it goes pts/brds/assts.
And what exactly is the difference between:

"front line players it goes pts/brds/assts"

AND

"guards it goes pts/brds/assts."

Nenad Krstic 15 points .. 6 rebounds .. 1 steal .. 20 minutes

Impressive to say the least ..

:)
Career stats: 3.3/1.7/.1. Yeah, I'd say that was an impressive showing.

Krstic = 24th 1st round pick for the Nets...do ya think we might have had him had the Nets not chosen him?!? The good news is, there's someone to watch when the Nets come to town...

LOL!!! Funny...
Since that's the way NBA.com lists the stats, I'll just go with them (and you).

I made a slight mistake with the gaurds... its Pts/assts/brds. I have no idea when that became the norm though.
