If you replaced the name on the back of Dennis’s jersey and Doug saw Carter or Ellis playing like this… they are likely getting benched for the rest of the game + the next one.

Why are we still giving this guy significant minutes over anyone else on this roster?

Nique and Keon only played 13-14 minutes? Give all 20 of Dennis’s minutes to them.

When we had the stretch where Nique and Keon were on the floor together, it looked good
Really not hard to play those guys 28-30 minutes and reduce minutes for vets
Look at the record and let vets know we have to make changes, it’s a big enough sample size

He made that big "rara" speech pregame and then proceeded to play our 2 best active defenders (Keon/Nique)... the 2 least amount of minutes last night.

Granted, I didn't watch the game, but it just seems so disingenuous to keep making the comments he is and then just not implementing it with the guys who actually do play defense at a high level

it's because he is the new GM's big signing, which automatically gives him a very long leash

How on earth didn't Christie make a single challenge in this match? I get it about the possession early (that Jokic was fast to inbound the ball) since it was Domas foul but there were at least 5 more clear cases that he could call one (Gordon tackling himself, 2 Keon fouls, one Domas foul, Jokic flop and so on) but still he did nothing. Won't even mention his trust to Dennis that if it was Keon, Devin or dunno who else with that kind of performance for a 3rd match in a row he would have been waived.
But yeah everybody is hater, and faker... only he loves the team and knows better than anyone.

There was minimal contact on the Keon fouls he wasn’t winning either of them

This narrative that Christie has no control over his lineup decisions is really weird to me. If we were 8-3 right now, would we be attributing all the success to Perry/Vivek and nothing to Doug?

If they were 8-3 right now, it would have happened with the same basic rotations, with the highest paid players and the hall of famer getting the priority.

He doesn't have the power at this point, to play Keon Ellis more than the new GM's splash investment in Shroder. Sure he could do that, but it would put his future with the organization in much more serious question.

Then he's gutless, and that's its own kind of problem. Good coaches don't justify their lineup decision-making based on front office investment, especially if a recent signing is no more than a journeyman PG who's effectiveness as an NBA player is waning dramatically.

He's a company man at this point. Minimally paid on a short contract, with no other NBA team that would even interview for a head job. Not in a position to override whatever the owner and GM have dictated that they want to happen

I mean if Doug truly believed that Keon/Nique would lead to more wins and he only was not playing them because he's been forced... welp then theres no hope for this franchise.

And at the end of the day, isn't a 3-8 record putting his future at stake?

Maybe he's just being put out as the sacrificial lamb for this season, but theres no real way to verify that without more information.

The information we do have on Doug is he's just been overmatched in this job through hia decision making over like 60+ games at this point. We basically know who he is

On a positive note, was that the first time we’ve seen Westbrook/Monk/Keon all in at once? Would love to see those 3 with Sabonis and Keegan up front.

Sabonis
Keegan
Keon
Monk or LaVine
Westbrook

It's one of the worst run organizations in pro sports. So there are a lot of negatives. Nearly impossible to maneuver around an owner who just doesn't get it.

My opinion is that the owner really likes Christie, so he will not fire him after this season, regardless of how bad the record is. In their minds, this is a "gap year"

I am afraid that you are severely underestimating Vivek, my friend...
I am also afraid that you are severely overestimating Doug, my friend...

Why are we calling Schroeder the shiny new toy? It's weird. Stop it.

I've never liked his game, I was aghast when he was mention during the summer and have been numb to the signing. I'm glad we didn't do the S&T for monk for him. At least we still have Monk.

Yes I believe he has no control in benching Perry’s guy a month into the season

Eh, but these games go on Perry's record too. He's head of the ship, if he wants to keep this job, he find a new one if/when he gets fired he has to put wins on the board.

I simply refuse to believe he'd be so stubborn, watching a 3-8 start, where his FA is massively struggling, and he's still "forcing" Doug to keep him starting

In fairness to everybody involved, it feels like everyone (Doug, Perry, Dennis himself) just felt like Dennis was on a cold streak up until last night rather than in a wild tailspin where he completely forgets how to play basketball (I like to call this the Kevin Huerter/Alec Burks protocol)

Gotta wonder if the extended Euroleague play is seriously effecting the older, 32 year old Schroeder. He was lights out in Euroleague. And has been trash for the Kings.

The Kings need to ban their players from playing EuroLeague in the summer.

They really need to build this rotation backwards.
Keon and Nique need at least 25mpg. Keegan will need 30 when he gets back. Those 3 are the most important. You have 240 to work with.
We aren't boosting Demar's value by playing him, you arent part of the teams plans, you won't be playing until we can find a trade for you. I know right now everyone hates dennis, but hes here for at least another year, we aren't just going to bench him entirely.

Schroder/Westbrook - 48 mins combined
Keon - 25
Nique - 25
Keegan - 30
Sabonis - 30
LaVine - 30
Monk - 25
That leaves 27 minutes for some big man combination Eubanks, Maxime, Precious.

This is the start, hopefully in the future we can move some combo of Demar, Monk, Schroder to open more mins for Nique, Keon, and ideally get Carter in the rotation.

Glad to see we’ve already memoryholed Kevin Huerter (2024-2025 edition)

Well we did have a whole year of Huerter being awesome for us as a first impression. "The K'Von era". And he had the "coming off an injury" excuse. And the narrative formed at the end of last season (for some) was that this team would be decent as soon as they found themselves a starting PG because LaVine replaced Fox's scoring and there's no way that HOFer DeRozan could be worse than Harrison Barnes, right? Oh and Doug Christie is a better coach than Mike Brown because this team was 10-4 in January.

I wasn't buying into any of that because I liked Mike Brown and thought he was overall doing a good job despite his eccentricities. And I hate Zach LaVine's game for reasons which I think don't need repeating. But I will say this for Kings fans, we want desperately to believe in our team and that's an admirable quality. I don't like being a naysayer. I'm hoping the teardown and rebuild happen quickly so that we can all get back to having fun watching this team again.

No! That’s been him since there beginning he always stars in euro league and is back to being a journeyman when he’s back in the nba

I’ll keep repeating myself until I see something different. It’s all eyewash.
