    Revisiting DMC - again

Which means the Kings were bad during the Cousins era, so not much has really changed, right? At least the Kings won't have half their payroll tied up in one guy while getting swept by the Warriors for the next 3 years.

Free Agency Open Thread (NBA and Kings!)

I believe cap holds for 1st round draft picks playing overseas are only removed during the regular season and added on after July 1st even if they are still under contract.

    Revisiting DMC - again

I doubt the only reason the Kings traded Cousins was because they didn't want to pay him.

I love this move. Perfect player for Joeger's system and if the 3rd year is partial, even better.

They will sign, but you have to overpay them. What the Kings did is hope that one of these young players will turn into a star player on a cheap contract which will afford them the flexibility to get other vital pieces in free agency.

    Revisiting DMC - again

It has a large effect on the future of this franchise. If Cousins is taking up 35-45% of the cap space, how are the Kings going to get better players considering you have a low opinion of our young players?

    So the cousins trade.......

Chicago also had to give up the 16th pick along with Butler. One of the young players they got back also averaged a minuscule 3.8 PPG. The other is coming off an ACL tear.

    Revisiting DMC - again

Maybe, but there were 200 million reasons to not take the risk.

    So the cousins trade.......

With what Chicago and Indiana received for star players, I don't think the Kings undersold Cousins

Tons of cap space with young players vs. topping out at 33 wins.

    Revisiting DMC - again

I don't know. No one knows if they could have fetched a better deal, but I believe Vivek's crush on Hield influenced which trade partners Vlade could engage with. There's no poiint in fretting or lamenting about what the Kings could have potentially got. Bottom line is that today the Kings...

    Revisiting DMC - again

I believe sign and trades changed under the new CBA. Teams cannot offer a 5th year to a player and then immediately trade him, so DMC would still be losing out in the S&T. Let's say for the sake of argument Kings made the playoffs. That means they would have lost the #5, #15, #20 and #34...

    Revisiting DMC - again

Sure, but Vlade said the Kings had a better offer from the Pelicans before his agent got involved. Even if Vlade had waited for better offers, Fegan was only going to further drive down the value of his client.

    Revisiting DMC - again

But Cousins' agent was trying to sabotage any return the Kings got.
  15. J

    So the cousins trade.......

Informing Cousins might have been the courteous and respectful thing to do, but his agent (Dan fegan) is one of the biggest slimeball agents in the NBA who would have further diminished any return the Kings got.

passing on Monk = proof that Vivek isn't meddling?

Well he let Vlade ship his guy (Stauskas) out after one year.

Today is the last day to trade Afflalo

Out of 101 small guards, Afflalo was 97th in RPM.

    Langston Galloway to decline option

Kings had too many small guards and Galloway wants a team where he will get playing time.

Rudy Gay Plans To Opt Out (ESPN)

Say what you want about the Warriors superteam, but if the Cavs get Gay on the veteran minimum, it will be a travesty for the NBA. At least the Warriors had to make room to sign Durant while the Cavs are going to get Gay for free basically.
