if coach Smart is not gonna try Tyreke at the PG spot, the team is in serious need of a real NBA starting calibur Point Guard. we have NO PG that runs the team and gets a decent assist number, and none of our mini PGs can guard any other starting PG.

IT is a backup at best.

Brooks is garbage and a chucker and i dont want him Playing ANY PG minutes for my team

Jimmer is not good with the ball in his hands

Disagree about IT. His best play is alot better than a backup. Aaron Brooks was actually working really well with Evans in the Lineup. Remember, its not about the calibur of the player, its about how well they fit next to Cousins and Evans.

even on IT's best day he cant guard MOST starting NBA point guards.

It's convenient to compare Jimmer to IT/Brooks, but keep in mind, he's not being used as a PG hardly at all so it isn't a fair comparison. He's hardly played this season when he hasn't been next to IT or Brooks, so to ding him on an assist number isn't the same. Also, few PG's in the NBA really guard other PG's well. Guarding a PG because of their speed and ability to use screens/picks is really a team effort, and is more about smarts / communication than it is about lateral quickness. I think Smart needs to give Jimmer true minutes at the PG position, either starting or backing up (he's shown that bringing the ball up the court is no longer an issue this season). Reke should stay at SG, he was excelling at it earlier in the year and learning how to play off the ball. MT should back up Reke - he could be an easy candidate for 6th man of the year if he would embrace the role and if the kings could win consistently. Kings need to send either IT or Brooks to the deep bench or trade.

I still don't think Jimmer should be a primary ball handler. He has the basketball smarts and court vision to set guys up, but I still don't see him being comfortable with his dribble. He's always dribbling in circles having to spin here and spin there to break the defensive pressure being put on him. He would be a very very good playmaker in a structured offense with set cuts and screens etc, but not so much when you ask him to create for others and direct the offense. See what Redick does for the Magic.

Its amazing to me that Brook and IT who are amazingly quick cannot stay in front of anyone
Teams are using screens to get past IT precisely because players can't get by him without it. There is more to defending point guards than see pg, stay in front of pg. On any given night most point guards can get past their man. It's up to the team to stop them from doing so, or to at least surround the point guard in the paint when he does use a screen to get by their man.

AB & JF are good compliments to reke as a spot up shooter SG. brooks can handle the rock some also. i don't trust IT at PG because he looks for his shot first and doesn't seem to run a lot of plays. he would be great as a backup change of pace PG.

Would need a third party for something like that. If Monta just wants his money, then I think he can be shipped directly from that team to another, but then it gets sticky with the cap flexibility, etc.
It would have to be something like:

Rondo --> Sacramento
Ellis --> Boston
Who Knows --> Milwaukee

I'll defer to the experts on this one, though.

the warriors just snatched up kings' unrestricted free agent toney douglas. i love how the kings hired the warriors' supposed defensive mastermind as their head coach, but the warriors are the ones bringing in further defensive personnel to bolster an already-impressive and increasingly-balanced roster. it's no major loss, to be sure, but i do wish we had a front office that valued defensive roleplayers...

PDA, what are you doing, man?
I think he's finding out the hard way what Petrie always knew - tough to get FA's here. His plan probably looked pretty good until all the name's started getting crossed out.

At this point, I'd keep the cap space (amnesty Salmons), extend Cousins, and don't lose the lotto pick this season. No reason to put out a mediocre team (at best) for this season.

Zach Lowe has some interesting insights on Evans from his free agency report today: http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/9462545/the-remaking-new-orleans-pelicans

Evans's pet move, the spin, is a little out of control by nature, and it's hard to see open passing lanes when you're twirling around at high speed. Keith Smart, Evans's old coach, told me almost exactly a year ago that Evans still hadn't figured out how to "map the floor" — how to understand the location of his teammates, anticipate their movements, and play with a willingness to actually look for them.

But the film shows Evans improved in that regard last season. He has a better sense of where shooters are, and when they'll come open. He takes his time now on the pick-and-roll, pausing to read help schemes and draw traps before hitting his big man rolling to the rim. He developed nice chemistry with both Jason Thompson and Patrick Patterson last season, proving he can work well with big men capable of both slipping to the rim and popping for jumpers.6 That bodes well for his relationship with Davis and Anderson; Davis is a scary explosive cutter with a usable midranger, and Anderson is the league's best shooting power forward. Evans will feel unburdened working with these guys after watching DeMarcus Cousins just stand around, sulking, on too many Evans-Cousins pick-and-rolls.
Evans might help, though how much is unclear. He's a solid, versatile defender when he's dialed in, but he wasn't dialed in nearly enough as the Kings lost game after game and ranked among the league's 10 worst defensive teams in every season of Evans's career. Quick 2-guards can challenge him off the bounce, and he'll face occasional size issues at small forward. He has the tools and wit to be a good, physical team defender away from the ball, but he has never proven he can do that game-to-game over a full season.
Lots more, too. Definitely worth a read over lunch (that's what I did--now back to bar studying)

It seems like the FO is counting on Cousins becoming an all time great. That Luc signing forces the team to start PPat for spacing, which puts the onus on Cousins to block shots.

Grantland article on Pelican, but about 1/3 of it is on Tyreke. Interesting thoughts from Zach Lowe who is probably the best NBA writer out there right now from a knowledge and statistical standpoint and he is very unbiased with his positions.
look, like, 7 posts above yours ;) but yeah, it's a good read. does not take into account the crappiness of our coaching last year, to the extent it should be, but the Pellicans stuff is pretty on point. if they're unwilling to give up Anderson for Asik, they can count on being crappy next year (when they were 3rd worst with only the Bobcats and us ****ing the bed even worse).
