What need does this fill though? PDA said he wanted to improve passing and shot blocking yesterday right? And find a SF. How does this accomplish one of those?
He's either naïve, a liar, stunningly stupid, or just confused. Of course, we can check back in a couple weeks to see if he's none of those but instead incredibly brilliant. Maybe at minimum he should take page from the Petrie GM playbook. Mostly keep your mouth shut, keeping it all close to the vest, only carefully speaking instead of loose pattern of gushed happy talk.

Ok i will say this... Carl Landry is an absolutely solid character, hard working vet dude. something that we desperately need in the locker room and on this team. He can play and this SCREAMS POTENTIAL TRADE happening soon. upon hearing this news i laughed. makes no sense unless you have another big being part of a TRADE package with one of our many chucker guards
Precisely, he also remains a great trade piece in mid season and for the money should bring in additional picks and better quality trade pieces.
I don't love it, but with what remains for acquisitions it makes sense.

I agree with you, we should be a better team. Not good enough to be good, not bad enough to have a good chance at a high draft pick. This being in the middle greatly frustrates me.
It would fit into what PDA said in his press conference: We won't turn it around overnight but you'll see changes for the better.

Maybe that translate into "We'll strive for being the 14-16th best team in the league".

Lets be objective here.... We lost Evans... We've added Vasquez, McClemore, and Landry..... We've gotten better as a team.
Mclemore was here regardless. We lost tyreke and added Vasquez and Landry when we were fine at guard and pf. Your last statement is an opinion I'm sure many disagree with so far. If more is done then we can revisit that opinion.

Yea. That would be sad too. Not sure if you have caught much of Morey's interviews but he believes building a contendor in a small market is about taking chances and risks on potential stars. In the last couple years that seems to be paying off for him. I much prefer that method as it gives some hope that you could be great in the future. The kind of moves we have made recently lack that potential and leave me wanting.

Take the other crybabies with you ok?
I am actually encouraged now. not about Landry but the fact that this proves a trade is coming. Landry=JT=Ppat. keep 2 trade one for SF. Indiana needs a backup PF and a true shooter the have 3 SF's we need one. Chicago needs a 4th big and want to unload Deng. we can help with that.

Step 1 carve out the cancer and put together a group of teammate that can play professional basketball; Step 2 get an impact player in the 2014 lottery; Step 3 ... after players see that playing in Sac is no longer complete hell, overplay a good vet to be our 3rd or 4th best player SF, PG, or PF depending upon the position we draft.

Professional vets on 1-2 years deals is what's coming next.

So hiring Malone and drafting McLemore and McCallum (dont sleep on him) are bad moves? This roster is a WORK IN PROGRESS, It is July 6th, we haven't even played summer league games. This is Vivek's, Malone's and PDA's Sacramento Kings, you couldn't expect them to just keep everything as is, especially since we have stunk for years now. This is a new project that will surely keep some remnants of the past, but make no mistake moves are far from over.
i see what you're saying and partly agree that the roster is a work in progress; however, i personally would rather have kept the roster the same then do what we have done so far. even though we only won 28 games last year and have stunk for years, i honestly think we weren't that far off talent-wise. poor coaching, lack of vision and dysfunction at the top should be the culprits of our underachieving past. imo, if we kept things the same, at least there was still hope. hope that with proper coaching and the correct surrounding pieces, tyreke and demarcus could find a way to figure it out and live up to there potential and turn this franchise around. hope that with an emphasis on defense would lead to more wins. what screams defense about the landry and vasquez moves?

Even if this means we will be making a trade, after the way our off season has gone so far, I'm a little worried about what we could get back in a trade.

Okay, so following along here , Tyreke Evans @ 11M per year is too much money, Carl Landry at 6.5M per year is just right. WTF? We just brought Landry back for another 4 years after he completely failed to compliment Cousins the first time. All of you who were on the fence about the Tyreke deal, where you at now?

I like the move for Landry. If you move JT to Center and we can use P Pat and Landry at PF. I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW NEGATIVE THIS BOARD HAS BECOME. Lets let management do their job and criticize later if it doesn't work out.

I think the reason people are getting upset is that we seem to not be addressing our biggest needs. That's very frustrating.

Remember when we brought John Salmons back and people said he was going to help our defense, sure up the SF position, and add another playmaker on offense? How'd that work out? I hated that trade too because we saw what John Salmons did in Sacramento. It wasn't good. He dominated the ball and looked for his own shot. The sequel wasn't any different. We already had this guy too, it wasn't working. He didn't rebound, he didn't defend, he stood 10-15 feet from the basket and fired up jumpers. I was happy to see him leave. Now he's our big FA signing of the off-season? Barf.
