Well, looks like he will be signing the offer sheet. so the time has come for the new FO to make a big decision. match or not?

personally, i say you match. when your a small market, you don't let talent like this get away. ill be pretty upset with the new front office if they let him walk.

especially after they were about to spend over 52Mil on Iguodala, spending 44Mil on Tyreke is not bad. you can always trade him if it doesnt work out (look how many teams were interested in him during this free agency)

The Kings MUST match unless they have some BETTER plan going on behind the scenes. I feel like we'd be taking a step back by letting him go to NO.

I've accepted that they aren't going to match. It's weird though. I feel like his agent is FORCING the Pelicans on him.

I think it's a no brainer. If we aren't getting Iggy, we can't just let Tyreke walk......unless there is a better, realistic plan that I'm not thinking about.

Did something change or is this the same position stein was taking a little earlier which someone in Reke's camp refuted?
Same thing. Sportscenter sent out a tweet implying Reke was going to sign with NO based on steins blurb. Obvious mistake on their part. Stein even retweets Amicks thoughts on getting Vasquez in a sign and trade, which wouldn't be possible if Reke signs their offer sheet. OP jumped the gun.

My take as well

Vasquez would be a good get. He might turn into a valuable trade asset down the road or heck be that PG the Kings could have used for the last few years. Just don't waste the space you get. Build a real team with it.

I don't think Vasquez is a bad player either, but I think that if they ran with Vasquez and McLemore, they'd have to find a #1 option SF, which would be harder than finding a role playing SF to put next to Tyreke.

Although, you know, they could try tanking for Wiggins.

He can't sign anything yet. We can't match anything yet. And New Orleans still hasn't cleared the cap room to give him that offer.

Before this process began I thought 10.5 was my max, but after I've seen the market I would keep him at 11. My vote would be match or the sign and trade option. I haven't seen enough, or any Pelicans games in the last year to have a handle on Vasquez but from what I hear he comes in with the typical Euro game - can see the floor but can't d. The thing that concerns me with this option is that the Pelicans obviously didn't think he was exceptional enough to be a long term solution for them, preferring Holiday and Reke

Vasquez would be a consolation prize but frankly would do much for the team. He's going to want to get paid so we'd get a small upgrade from IT but wouldn't have enough money left over to get a significant upgrade at the 3. Our lineup would arguably be worse that last year and you'd still potentially have holes at the 3 and defensive bigs plus a very poor defending backcourt and no one that is a significant threat to penetrate which is a big deal in today's nba.

Cousins.
DeMarcus
Boogie

Remember him? That's our #1 option

Vasquez is getting $2.5 mil next season.

Sooo.

I will say this. If we don't match Reke, I'll be extremely pissed if at least Vasquez is coming our way as well

you match Reke, amnesty salmons and go after AK47.

Stop ****ing around. He wants to come back, but we're trying to be tough negotiators with somebody we shouldn't be. Outside FA's is one thing, but this is a 23 yr old former ROY who has plenty ahead of him. Yes, he might not be worth 11-12 mil now, but they never are in the beginning. If you wanted to overpay Iggy, you overpay Reke.

Get...it...done.

I agree. But only because he is at least a piece that could have some value. I just disagree with the perspective that he would be a big step towards us getting better.

If Reke wants a sign and trade(theoretical) I'd pick up the phone and immediately call Boston. Rondo most likely wants out and Rondo/MLM would pair extremely well.

If they let go of Reke they better do something to make this team better. I'm just not 100% sure that bringing back Reke at the expense of filling the holes on this team that have inhibited it from being competitive is a smart move. If you re-sign Reke to that deal this team is what it is for the next couple of years at least. Hate to see Reke re-signing and it not working out have an impact on whether or not they can build the right team around Cousins.

I don't think it's a big step. But getting a pass-first PG who can get Cousins easy looks? Not the worst thing we've ever done.

And not that any of you will believe it, but every defensive metric I can find points to Vasquez being an on-par defender with Reke. He's also an equally good rebounder. Think a bigger prime Andre Miller if you want a comparison.

Say we do this swap and back it up with Ak47

PG: Vasquez
SG: McLemore
SF: AK47
PF: Ppat
C: Cousins

With Thornton, IT, JT, maybes PPat to go shop around to make improvements.
