I wonder if Georgie attempted this same tactic when the family's interest in the Palms was reduced to 2%.

These guys are unreal. Megalomania and narcissism personified to its fullest extent.
Come to think of it I think they did.. Remember them saying they owned only a small % but then George Maloof (I think it was George) would stay on and run the day to day operation?

Someone correct me if I am wrong please.

Nope, you're right. It was announced that George would stay on...and he did, at least in title, for about 90 days. He was then replaced.

Their vanity has really undone them entirely. George, Sr. must be rolling in his grave. They had a rock solid income stream in the Coors distributorship that could have supported their family for generations and threw it away on skate competitions (they can't skate), low-rent movies (they can't act), and casinos (they clearly don't know when to walk away).

It would be wonderful if Hansen said no and they were eventually forced to sell for a fraction of what has been offered- AN NBA RECORD HIGH. They guys are dumb, spoiled brats. I hope they wake up at 2am tonight and step barefoot on some legos.

I'd be 100% behind the Maloofs again, no matter what they've put us through, if they finally signed a lease with the city and decided to stay in Sacramento for good. In the end, having a team owned by the Maloofs is better than no team at all.
wtf?

they are penny pinching now that they don't have any cash reserves.. i don't want them running the team because we will only become a farm for other teams.

Yeah... Not sure that them remaining as majority owners is realistic now. It seems like they don't have the funding to do it anymore.

I would take the Maloofs in a reduced ownership role if it meant keeping the team in Sacramento.
Aitch-Eeee-Double Hockey Sticks no! At this stage, words fail to describe the disgust and amazement I have towards the Maloofs and their attitude. I seriously am wondering if that family is mentally stable. What leverage could you possibly have to demand that you run a team you've just sold? If you sell me your car, you have no right to say "I'ma gonna sell you the car, but you'll have to get the keys from me everytime you wanna drive it!" When you sell something you owned, you have given up your rights to have any say in what happens to it!!

The NBA should just boot them out now now now. I can't believe I used to like those putos.

Well said Captain! Stepping barefoot on some legos! And slipping on their pasifier too! Spoiled brats is right! They owe what like $216M to the NBA are offered $500M for a $300M team I hear and upon the sale they want to have rights in how the team is run?! Are you freaking kidding me???!!! What planet are they from those Madoofs! I hope Saturday Night Live does some crazy skits on these morons!!! ;-)

The Maloofs are still acting like the rats caught in the maze, looking for a way out that is emotionally palatable for them. They are still working according to formula as far as I a am concerned.

They always said they wouldn't sell. They desperately looked for an arena that allowed them to retain ownership. Didn't work. Now they are desperately trying to give up ownership without giving up control. Of course that won't work. They are grudgingly getting to the point where they admit they need to get out of the business, entirely. They are moving in this direction not out of a conscious plan, but out of resolving their unresolved emotional issues about the team. This is all to the good. Through their bumbling they have now inadvertently admitted that they would in fact sell. And nobody in the world thinks "sell" means retaining control in the franchise, except for the Maloofs. Now that they have crossed the no-sale line, they are going to get a call from Stern in which he lays out for them how it is to be done. It is to be done with consultations with the NBA and communication with Kevin Johnson. This is also to the good. If the Maloofs really had their act together, they would have tied this thing in a bow already and making ready for their presentation to the NBA of their "done deal". That would have put Sacramento at a distinct disadvantage in presenting alternatives. We may be lucking out because they are so inept.
