[Game] Kings @ Pacers 11/3/12

you guys praising Hayes Defense need to realize he also let David West score at will for most of the 4th quarter. giving him open jumpers everywhere,

the fact that Hayes played the whole 4th quarter is unbelievable and ridiculous

Yeah and if he did you'd be saying "why call a timeout we had a break away!!!!"

dude can't win.
uh no, i would never say that, because i actually know basketball. u take the timeout and go for the last shot, u dont take a break and leave time on the clock whether u make the shot or not. thats just stupid. especially when its a contested break like that

Just looking at the box score to rebuild the game since I missed it. We were outscored 38-18? TWENTY POINTS in the second quarter??? What in the heck happened there.

Now I know you really didn't watch the game. Hayes demolished West when he was on the floor. I mean absolutely destroyed him and totally took him out of his offensive rhythm. So what if West made a few jumpers?

as long as we stick to have Reke and Cuz running a high pick and roll with thornton and IT/Brooks to spread the floor and JT/Hayes to clean things up we should be fine, Cuz will play better, heck he cant get any worse.

Coaching at the end is highly questionable.

1) What's the deal with Brooks controlling our offense?
2) Do you call a timeout on that Reke to MT runout?
3) Not fouling at the end of the 2nd OT when it's a two possession game
4) As capt said, why are we going for two at the end?

I did see improvement tonight though in the rotations, although they still need a fair amount of work. Our guys played damn hard.

My biggest question is why Smart stuck with Brooks, and on top of it, why Brooks has such a prominent role in our offense. His pullup 3's are terrible. He pounds the ball. Sets the offense up late. His defense killed us.

IT didn't play that great but Brooks didn't do anything worthy of the role he played tonight.
Brooks hit some big shots tonight, give the man some credit. In the end it's still about presence. When he and Thornton, or any legit spot shooter is out there defenses don't collapse on Cousins and Evans. It's all apart of how this can work. Just sucks that most of the Kings shooters play PG/SG.

everyone "knows" basketball in hindsight.

I'll take the points tbh, and seeing the way this team executes in the half court I'm not that confident coming out of timeouts.

Thornton made big shots on broken plays, simple.

Pick and roll, pick and roll, pick and roll. This team could a pick and roll stopper, not a pick and roll offensive team. Smart started almost every set late with the pick and roll. This team will NEVER be a good pick and roll team they just don't have the personnel for it. They could be special in a motion/spread offense set though.

Everything he hit he gave up on the other end. Penetration against Brooks killed our defense the entire time he was in there. He was repeatedly the first breakdown.
ya the most successful part of all 3 games so far is when the ball is in Rekes hands. when is the dumb coach going to realize this and try a lineup with Reke at PG?

I find it hard to believe some of you can pin this loss on Smart.

He didn't make Cousins shoot 9-26

He didn't cause 9 TO's from IT and Reke and at least 10+ unforced TO's

He didn't miss 12+ wide open jumpers or puts backs that easily could have won us the game.

This loss is purely on the players. The starters had ample time to win this game and they couldn't execute

When we went to the pick and roll with Cuz and Reke there was always an open pass on to cuz, sadly it was spotted once but reke usually went to the hole into a few bodies.

still even a half court play where MT or Evans or DMC hold the ball and shoots it at the buzzar is better than anything that was going to happen on that thornton break. because then IND got a chance to have the ball again, whether he gets a layup there or not

No question. Yeah, there is something ridiculous here but it ain't Hayes playing in the 4th and anyone who suggests it is will absolutely get exposed for either their agenda or a complete lack of knowledge about the nuances of basketball after this one.

u guys just say that because Grant Napear said that on the telecast. he cant rebound, cant score, hes slow, he hurts us in MANY more ways than he helps
Hayes was quite easily the best player on the floor tonight. He was absolutely lock-down on defense and his passing on offense lead to some of the only real movement we had all game. I want to see Hayes starting and getting a crack on the other team's best bigs from the get-go. Let JT and Trob be the energizer bunnies off the bench

we didn't get a "good" look out of a timeout all night, in essence you're trading one contested shot for another.

I take the point on clock management, but i'd rather have the points, thats what counts.

Brooks in the pick n roll is terrible. He comes off the pick looking for his shot, usually pullup 3's. He can't really penetrate and the return pass is non existent.

Reke at least attacked the rim out of the pick n roll, did hit Cuz on the rolls and had some nice kickouts.

I don't know why we went away from the Cuz/Reke two man game with MT as the clear 3rd option, and instead repeatedly put Brooks in pick n rolls. He pounded the hell out of the ball.

If they want to play pick and roll ball it better be between those two but that said, they still will never be dominant in the pick and roll. They have a bunch of bigs that can pass but aren't strong finishers. They have Reke who is a strong finisher but will get lanes packed in on him. It seemed like every play started with a screen up top for Brooks that went nowhere. Teams aren't going to fear this teams pick and roll game.

ya you guys are definitly Over-Praising Hayes. i know his defense was great at times. and i didnt say we lost cause of him. they lost because DMC couldnt make a shot in OT-2OT yet he kept trying. i hate how he plays under the rim and throws up horrible shots just trying to get fouls called. drives me crazy. and Smart's rotations are the other reason. especially the second quarter. and playing Garcia at all is just inexcusable.

A pick and pop game with Reke/Cuz could be interesting, but Reke hitting Cuz out of a spread set like they ran for him at Memphis could be option B for this team. Think he hit Cuz once with that tonight.
