Any other former season ticket holders contacted by gavin?

Wasn't sure were to post this mods.
We have a meeting with gavin tomorrow because we have informed the kings that we won't be renewing. One of our group has been a little boisterous about why we are giving up our tix and gavin called and invited us to talk about it. Im kinda shocked and not sure what to say at the meeting. I can't go because of work but my wife is going. Any other season tix holders experiencing this?

I know that other STH have been contacted but I couldn't find any posts right away.

I'd be tempted to tell them that the product on the court simply isn't worth the cost. If they want people to buy season tickets, they have to get much better players to help Tyreke and Cousins. They've kept saying they have money to spend since the Kings are so far under the cap. Let's see some of that cold-hard cash made available to Petrie to get a team worth buying season tickets to see...

Just my two cents. :)

I'd pretty much say the same if I were a STH and got a call...

I'd be tempted to tell them I was mad about them backing out of the arena deal, to ensure the longevity of the team in Sacramento. Where's their loyalty to us?

I'd question their loyalty as well. And I'd follow that question up by telling him if him and his family are not completely (100%+) loyal to this team, and to this city, then they would need to sell the team to new ownership and only then would I reconsider getting season tickets (had ST's for a few years in the early 2000s)

My wife and I made up our minds after their debacle of a press conference. My wife wants to go off on gavin and I told her to go ahead since we have no intention of changing our mind. I just don't know how constructive that will be.

Go. Tell him they are A#####, then forgive them and get your season tickets again as I did. I resighed without pledging my love of the family. Love Kings BB.

Ask him why they won't hire a legit, proven NBA head coach, with a few available. Why aren't they going after Sloan who just dropped out as a Char candidate. Why aren't they going after McMillan? They've gone after both Sloan and SVG before, so if they DO have money then why the hell not go after a real coach.

Ask him why they backed tossing our 2nd best player aside, and more importantly running a faulty, insincere ROY campaign behind Isaiah, which falsely raised expectations of many fans and put needless pressure on Isaiah himself, while coming across as a money grab.

Ask him why they blew cap space on Chuck Hayes and Travis Outlaw, promised for years they'd bring in a big FA, and what assurances you have that they will in fact spend this summer and make this a playoff team, without wasting more money.

Ask him if he lets Petrie spend. If he says yes, then ask him why Petrie hasn't brought in anyone of note and his moves last summer only hurt us.

Ask him why they collectively like lying to the fanbase about everything from spending big money after creating cap space, to saying the love Sac while doing everything possible to leave town.

Ask him why you should spend money on their team, when they aren't spending money themselves on improving the team nor the coaching staff. If he says they will, say you promised you would, before, and didn't. If he says they did spend and wanted to all along, then ask him why they haven't fired such a poor talent evaluator in Petrie. There's two options here. Either they didn't let Petrie spend, because they're broke, or they let Petrie spend, and he failed miserably and shouldn't have a job.

There's so many things to ask just to see where their heads are and how committed they are, and I'd love to hear a few answers when questioned about the product which is a mess, yet his brother George says is a great team.

Cut & Print with "FROM KINGSFANS.COM" written on the top of the page. Let them know their B.S dog does not hunt anymore and were ready for Burkle.

Just tell them you don't want to do season tickets because you don't think they can afford you buying season tickets long term and you are not willing to put down collateral. Really, you not buying season tickets is in their best interest.

that's what I'd say also.

If they invited me to a meeting my number one point would be their commitment to this area. That their behavior during the arena process was completely reprehensible and that their lack of cooperation with the City, the league and the Area Operator shows that they have no long term vision for the team to stay in Sacramento. I would not be renewing tickets and would get a single game ticket on the secondary market.

Can't really add anything that hasn't been said. What I will say is if I were meeting with Gavin I'd tell him that my concerns were:
1. Maloofs commitment to Sacramento. Nothing shy of getting the arena deal back on track and sending George back to Vegas and Adrienne back to LALA land would fix that. I've got issues with Gavin and Joe too but at least they are somewhat invested in the community. That right there is enough not to invest in season tickets, who wants to go through what Seattle did - watch a TERRIBLE team that moves and turns into a championship contender.

2. Players - I can watch a losing team if I think they are building something, but the way they've mismanaged Tyreke is abysmal, you have to wonder if he'll be here after next year and if he isn't its a crime. The inability to make impact signings despite the low payroll and cap flexibility is just inexcusable. And bringing back a guy everyone couldn't wait to dump in Salmons...

3. Coaching - the time for dickering around is over. We've got a few core pieces, we'll likely add one more in this draft. Let's bring in a big time coach which will hopefully help our prospects of landing a big time player in the offseason and then make winning a priority again.

What time today? Damn, if the folks that meet with him are meek, an opportunity is missed. The Maloofs are in the midst of a fan revolt against them. They need to hear that over and over. Hearing it from one fan means nothing. They can ignore it. I don't need to list the reasons fans are angry as they are well known. It's too bad the STH can't meet before hand and have an orchestrated set of talking points and then hammer away at Gavin. The Maloofs are using a tag team approach. George is the jerk who takes care of screwing us over. Gavin is the seducer. Don't be seduced. We've heard all the words before. We need tangible proof that they are committed to building a good team and that they are committed to Sacramento. A $75 mil check would go a long ways.

Heck, ask Gavin why George isn't at the meeting. He's the direct source of our anger although he represents the family.

Edit: I'm not so angry at the lack of use of the cap space. That cap space will disappear in a short time when Tyreke and Cousins get extended. We don't need the big FA signing as it would squeeze out one of them. In a couple years the minimum salary will be 90% of the max and that issue will take care of itself. Also, the draft pick might just be the third star for this team assuming you don't see MT as a star.

Good call. Is this merely a good cop/bad cop routine or is the family fractured. I'd honestly believe both. But it would be nice to have the a-hole show up at the public forum to get his piece. Of course the a-hole somehow believes he's an innocent victim here.

well we had to reschedule for monday or tuesday because of more of our group wanting to attend. Just waiting to hear back from gavin.
I like what Glenn said. "If the folks that meet with him are meek, an opportunity is missed." I don't like how the maloofs have treated Sacramento and since the meeting has been rescheduled I plan on letting Gavin know.

Just remember that Gavin is the "Kings Fan" of the "family". He makes happy when he shouldn't because he's a stupid sports fan.

Maybe Gavin WANTS to hear the ire from the King's faithful.

Maybe Gavin WANTS to share with the rest of the family, directly from their valued customers, what's going on wrong in Kings land.

To not show up, or to show up and to avoid the thorny issues/problems with the franchise just because he's the nice brother may be a catastrophic waste of an opportunity, here.

Print out the important problems and be prepared, and address them to him frankly, making it clear HE is not the source of this ire, the family's and organization's decisions are.

Hammer him on the coach issue. Until the Kings have a REAL, established coach that is proven to work in the NBA (esp. SLOAN), all of this is smoke and mirrors, signifying nothing.
The fact they have a cheapo coach on contract should mean NOTHING to them if they were serious about the Kings and making money. A couple million is a drop in the bucket compared to everything at stake.

Make it clear to him they have already lost the majority support for the Kings, and they will obviously have to change the way they are all operating to win it back. Staying the status quo will not work, since it didn't work. Their operation needs to change, and only a moron can't see this coming.

I don't say this very often, but I agree with your entire post.

I think the part about the coach is especially significant. They had to pay off Musselman, Theus and Westphal so, as you say, paying off another inferior coach should come as no surprise. With the wealth of experienced veteran coaches out there looking for new teams to coach this year, to not go after one of them is just beyond stupid.

Just echoing what everyone else here is saying. But take it one step further. Don't let him off the hook. If he tries to spin or gives you a "I'll get back to you" answer. Don't let him get away with it.

Any of the questions posed he should be able to answer as the Kings owner.

I would personally say to him, that over the years I felt that he and Joe had done a good job as the faces of the Kings ownership. "But I would follow it up with, but in the past couple of years I no longer feel that way. I don't know if it's your doing or more George getting involved but you turned a love affair with a city and it's fans into bad marriage."
