TDOS Drafts? or did George feel they aren't in the best interests of kingsfans.com?

I'm not sure, but I think the drafts don't usually start until after the NBA playoffs, because there's still NBA to pay attention to? Maybe not. Anyway the draft topics are usually thrown out there and selected among.

I nominate "Things we want to do to George Maloof" as a TDOS draft. Be creative!

OK, just kidding.

I'm tempted to nominate a Desert Island Books draft, since I don't think that's been done while music and movies have been pretty well hit. But that may not be the most popular idea. If people wanted to do it, I'd run it.

I thought a "one hit wonders" music draft would be fun. Since a lot of bands are unfairly classified as such the main criteria would be that once a band has a song taken they are off the board. Some criteria to weed out acts that obviously aren't remotely one hit wonder material would need to be developed and I have ideas for that, if people like the idea.

I think its a good way to flex your musical diversity without being punished.

I'd be in for Books.

Yeah, I'm sure we will queue these up again no matter what George thinks about it. :)

Girls was already elftover from last summer. Musical Singles again was on the menu too -- no idea whether peeps would like to convert that into a one hit wonders draft or not. Certainly the only 1 song per band rule would be interesting and make it play like the Musical Artist draft last year. etc.

How about a limited draft picking which Maloof you would want to isolated on the island with? Personally I would hope a chute didn't open.

Since we have a sizeable female membership here, I wouldn't mind a Beefcake draft - I might even participate in that one.
well tell you what. We're defintiely doing Girls. So if we can get a minimum of 8 ladies, who are willing to stick with it through the draft, then we can run a Beefcake draft simultaneous to the Girls draft. Unfortunately you guys always talk a good game, but... :p

Get me 8 or more and its a go though,

Books? As in just general books?

The Library of Congress has over 22million books alone -- seems like you might as well just have everybody post their own lists of favorites for all the chances of competing for the same books in a draft. I mean, after maybe the first round or two or classics. But hey, drafts follow interest, so if the interest is there...

Well, of those 22 million books, pretty much nobody has read 21.9 million of them, so I'm not sure it would be terribly different than a music "singles" draft. There are some obvious issues regarding "what is a book?" that would have to be worked out. Jalfa's alternative suggestion of an Author draft would also be totally acceptable to me, based on preference of drafters if we get enough. Right now looks like 5 (me, prophetess, jalfa, kingsnation, warhawk) have expressed interest. I'll leave it up to you (Brick) to determine whether there's sufficient interest.

I could live with authors. Would need to know if you pick author A and he/she has books under psuedoname author b, would both count if you took A or just the ones under A?
Also could divide out by fiction, science fiction, nonfiction, historical fiction, fantasy, historical nonfiction, romance, poetry, horror, mystery, childrens, etc.

I'm sure that's the kind of thing we could work out, but under that scenario I'd imagine you'd get all pen names.

Whoa, now! You wants a romance novelist draft, you runs it yourself!

the difficulty with a book draft though is that, if you don't know a book, which is definitely going to happen, nobody is going to pick up and read a 500 page Victorian novel, whereas it's easy to just fire up youtube/itunes/spotify in order to know someone's music better. if you draft authors, presumably you know at least one or two of their books. with books it would be possible for different drafters to take works of the same authors and make a point of why they think that the one book is superior to the other and would thus enable you to draft authors that, in your mind, only had one work or period that you liked, without taking the stuff you don't like (say an author, towards the end of his life, started obsessing about ponies. you're not a fan, but there's a pony enthusiast among the drafters. with a book draft, both of you could be happy, an author draft would inevitably lead to a pony flamewar).
