Speaking outside the St. Regis Hotel in New York this morning, the Maloofs' spokesman Harvey Englander said the family, accompanied by economists and lawyers, will present a "historical analysis of the transaction" to owners today, and hopes to have a clear path set toward a deal by the time the meetings end on Friday. Englander said it could take days or weeks, however, to come to a resolution.
Several NBA team owners heading into the meeting expressed support for keeping the team in Sacramento. One, Oklahoma City owner Clay Bennett, who has worked on the Sacramento issue, told reporters to "stick around, you may see something interesting." Another, Memphis team owner Michael Heisley, said the NBA "has gone the extra mile" to try to keep the team in Sacramento. "Everyone's making an effort."
