[Game] Kings vs Jazz 3/22/12

Tough loss, but great 4th. If we can play that kind of defense in the first 3 quarters, we're not in this situation. Need to start committing to defense, period. FT's didn't help. Still, fun to watch.

Hope JT is ok.

There was so many factors that could have changed the outcome of this game tonight. Our ft's... our stupid technical's, the refs actually calling hacking fouls on the Jazz, grabbing a rebound or 2, catching passes that were thrown on the break. If one of those sequences would have gone the other way this game was ours.

Free throws killed us, the defense in the 4th was great, hope JT isn't hurt that bad. We need one of Thornton or tyreke to play James harden role, no one on our bench offers consistent scoring, plus that second unit needs someone to run the offended through

Heartbreaker but these types of losses are to be expected with a young and inexperienced team. I'm just happy that they are so much fun to watch play again. I'm actually excited on game days now.

speaking of that, why is it always a 26 foot 3? I know there was only .9 on the clock but i would have liked Evans or Thorton to curl around the arc and try to drive it for a mid range floater.
Or IT curling for a jumper.

The way the Jazz went hard on Thornton, a curl underneath would have been wide open.

Free Throws

Cousins and Thornton missing 33 freaking shots

Refs refusing to call hacking fouls

Considering all these factors, it's remarkable we essentially had this won until the end. It's a sign of tremendous growth

It was way too obvious we were going to go to thorton for a 3. Just like it was predictable when we give evans the ball for a iso....and when kevin martin used to get the ball and try to bait the foul on a ridiculous 3pt shot. We need to switch it up if we ever want to win these types of games. Most teams have 4 or 5 guys that they feel comfortable throwing a last second shot to... we just throw it to whoever happened to make the shot on the prior play.

Jazz were giving it away and defensive lapses late cost us the game. Tyreke was terrific and Thornton once again proves he is Mr BIG shot!

Am I the only one really disappointed with that last play for the win coming out of a time out?! That's the best coach could come up with, a highly contested LONG 3?! C'mon now! I am sure there would be at least 20 better set plays coming out of a time out when all you need is a 2 to win! Lack of head coaching experience showing up with that last play.

A bit disappointed that with the 9 game home stretch, we didn't take better advantage of it. 5-4 is OK but we should have come out better especially considering the teams we lost to.

Yes and no. All you really have time for is a catch and shoot with 0.9 on the clock. I'd prefer it be closer, but it's not like there's time for some creative play to form. Especially when we have to inbound the ball with no timeouts

I'm completely satisfied with our homestand. We managed to get rid of that looming presence that was causing us to get blown out every other game. If we can keep it up I don't think anyone would have a problem with the team we've seen these last few games.

Thats when a josh smith would come in handy... he's won the game on last second inbounds ally-oops several times. Terrence Williams actually might be able to bring those kinds of hops if he ends up sticking with the team.

I was disappointed with it. Down one, and the only option was a long three? Why? A two wins it as well. Didn't see a possible 2nd option on that play either. Even if we're going for a three it can be set up much better than a simple fade off a double screen. Would have liked to see MT start on the weekside, cut across the court with either a doube or staggered screen, and catch it on the move. But he started near the FT line, so there was barely any movement.

But, still a great game. Definitely seeing growth. Thought Smart did a good job managing his subs in the 4th as well. But I do believe you don't lose a game on the last play. MT hit two great shots before that, but it shouldn't come down to that. Missed ft's, and really our complete lack of defense in the first 2.5 quarters is where we lost it imo.

Tend to agree. Everyone knew the ball was going to MT and I have nothing against that but would have liked to see him come off a good screen or 2 to get a better look. He can nail it off the dribble and would have loved to see us go for a 2 but...it was still a good game.

Personally didn't like when we went to IT and JT when the guys on the floor were really clicking at both ends of the court. Chuck was doing a great job on big Al and Tyreke was giving Harris all sorts of troubles.

Oh well, the growth is there and we are starting to realise we can match it with everyone when we knuckle down and play good defence.

Should have put Jimmer and MT at the top with a screener moving up on the play. Jimmer has the best range and could have got a better look or at least pull a defender farther out. Then have the 2 guys at the basket switch out.

the real trick would have been having all that action up top, then using the JT injury as an excuse to insert Donte and whiel the Jazz woried aobut Reke/Thornton/Jimmer and Cousins flashing to the ball, throw the ball at the rim and have Donte go up and try to make an atheltic play on it.

The funny part about that is that the only player I trust to make that pass to Greene in that situation... is Thompson.

Didn't really mind the JT subbing in but our actual full-sized line-up was working wonders for our defense in the fourth quarters.
