A new enemy in the Arena fight....

I don't have links at the moment. It was posted last night by a member of the media on twitter. I don't have time at the moment to dig through my timeline, but I will try to later this evening.

Leonard Padilla went on record saying that he sees Jun as an unofficial referendum in regards to the Arena Deal. Apparently he will be running for Mayor again.
He hasn't officially filed the paperwork yet, but he intends to. If he were to win he promises to undo the arena deal. Now, this guy has been around for a while, and I think he's a joke, however...this is Sacramento.

I read about what you said and he's nothing to worry about. He has tried running for mayor so many times he's hopeless.

Exactly. He has no chance to ever be the mayor in Sacramento. He's a media whore and does stuff like this all the time just to bring attention to himself. He is no threat to anything other than maybe the local buffet!

He's even a joke to most of the CAVE people. Only the real "I hate KJ" nut jobs would even give him a thought. He's pretty transparent on his arena opposition.

I would consider Sheedy a little bit more of a threat. I think she is entertaining running for mayor and would rally more of the CAVE people to her cause. But even she doesn't seem to be up for this fight just yet.

Sheedy is supposedly not running again.

For her district council seat she is not running. But she was asked by a reporter if she had thought of running for mayor... she said she would have to give it some thought. I think she knows that something big has to fall apart in the arena deal for her to even consider running. But she didn't deny her interest.

Yeah. after I wrote that, I realized she didn't say she wouldn't run for mayor, which is an at-large council seat, covering all districts. I really hope she doesn't. I'm sorry Rob Fong won't run for his seat again.

Yes. He's the dude that paid Casey Anthony's bail, the dude that is paying that serial killer to detail his grave sites, the dude that is a major media whore.
I believe Leonard Padilla is also a convicted felon - meaning he can't even vote for himself. His trademark toothpick in mouth and constant black cowboy hat shtick is laughable to say the least. What an joke that this clown gets so much national TV media time parading as one of most well known "faces" in Sacramento. Nancy Grace sure can't get enough of Leonard the endless self-promoting old bounty hunter.

Leonard Padilla was at city hall on Feb 14th. I saw just one person go up to him to talk and that was one media person. Otherwise he was invisible.

I believe once you've served your sentence and probation, your voting rights are fully restored. He might be the only one that votes for him. ;)

Here's an article from Marcos Breton wondering about the arena deal:

http://www.sacbee.com/2012/02/29/4299008/marcos-breton-nows-the-time-to.html

Go Kings!
And of course, the article became a rallying cry for the naysayers. They read way too much into it.

Of course, this is the time to go into the details. Even if the city votes yes on the term sheet, it is not legally binding on anybody. It takes the city the farthest down the road to a new arena than its ever been before, but it still isn't a signed, sealed and delivered commitment to anything. So the next step is to examine all the details and nail them down one by one. Breton only wrote the obvious.

As usual the idiot anti-arena commenters are there. One asks why Breton is the only media person to point out that this isn't a signed deal. Uh, how many times have they reported that this is a NON-BINDING term sheet? Only a ton of times by all media outlets. Duh!

This is the landmine we walk for the next few months, before we get to an actual signed deal by all parties. We can't declare victory yet. There are plenty of possible snags ahead, and I can see a few in the terms we know so far. There's still a battle ahead of us, for a while.

He sounds like a slime ball. F that guy lol. I think KJ would have a real easy time beating him though if that's true.

Marcos screwed the pooch on this one. One day too soon. All the questions were answered in the afternoon.
