Progress? lol he's gotten progressively WORSE since his rookie year in every phase of the game.
LOL.

Bring some facts to the argument. Define "every phase" and then back it up with examples and statistics. Your comment is pretty much just noise without that kind of stuff.

VF21, you've been around this organization for a long time. You know that you rarely hear that from the Kings org, except after a guy has been traded. Then, swoosh, it all comes out. Greene is the one example I can think of where it did come out and with him it was obvious because he was overweight. Also, he was Westphal's "punching bag", the guy you want to make an example of to send a message to the rest of the team; not the Golden Child that you didn't hear a peep of criticism about. What you do hear is about the guys who do work out assiduously. Thompson is an excellent example. And going back a ways, Price was another. And more recently, back to Greene, you hear about him working out. You hear nothing about Tyreke.

PS We better hope that a lack of work ethic, or a lack of an intelligent work is the issue with Tyreke. Because like I said, if his work ethic is stellar, the the lack of progress he's made is extremely concerning. Then we would have much evidence to conclude that he will not progress much in the future, regardless of work ethic.
Actually in the past I have heard rumors of poor work ethic, etc. of various players. If you recall, that was the one thing that Gerald Wallace was criticized for. He wanted to showboat in practice and not work on the fundamentals. He was basically lazy back then and didn't change his attitude until he was taken by the Bobcats in the expansion draft.

I'm not saying Tyreke is the ultimate gym rat or anything but I don't think you can draw a conclusion one way or the other about his work ethic since it doesn't seem to be a topic of discussion around the ol' water cooler, so to speak.

And again, more dumbness from the peanut gallery.

Here's Reke's production over the last month:

18.2pts (.420 .855) 5.4reb 6.4ast 1.5stl 0.4blk 3.1TO

Truly a player in full retreat.

Oh, and hey, just for fun, here's Chauncey Billups from his championship year:
16.9pts (.394 .388 .878) 3.5reb 5.7ast 1.1stl 0.1blk 2.4TO

Rookie year: 20.1 Points, 5.8 assists, 45.8% FG

This year: 17.3 points, 5.3 assists, 41.4% FG

That's some kind of "progress"!

Hard to completely refute the criticism of 2 and a "half" seasons using only the recent month's stats. Still, the fg% of this past month is near to his season avg, below his rookie season. Turnovers are also right where he's been all along. Ditto steals, blocks. In fact, short of one extra assist per game and higher ft% (over 50 odd free throws), the stats you just proposed are basically his career stats. So, no regression, but not something you can really put your hat on as "progress." From the stats, he is now what he came into the league as; a good sized groundbound guard with exceptional under the rim inside slashing and no midrange/long range game. A physical specimen with great handles. A guard who struggles to score easily as a shooting guard, but without the feel, pacing or floor vision of a full time point guard. The lack of a defined position is what allowed us to grab him at our draft pick, and it's basically the encompassing thing keeping Tyreke from the also-rans to a go to guy/fringe all star. Similarily, Cousin's takeaways (emotional, groundbound, shot selection), are all bearing out as well, and that also allowed us to get him at our draft pick.

Basically, we went with riskier picks and got top 1/2/3 talent with sizable flaws. Look at a Kyrie Irving; 50/40/90. He is running the point, being very efficient, and coming up with big plays. He doesn't take much off the table, and that's why he went first. This is why our guys didn't go first. The biggest issue I have with Tyreke's (and Cousins) journey is that they take away a lot more off the table than they need to. From ball movement, to poor shot selection, to ill fated 3's that he has no business taking right now, he's forcing things more than he needs. But again, this is what we decided to have; star talent, large flaws. You wanted Geoff to go for the homerun, well, he grabbed waht he could for that homerun; they're just not getting on base all that much. And if they could from the start, we wouldn't have them.

don't compare the two

One has a peanut for a brain, the other I would trust in any situation of the game.
Adn yet Chauncey Billups was traded through 5 teams because...wait for it...everybody thoguht he had a peanut for a brain!

Shortsighted people really shouldn;t be in charge if much of anything.

Not sure where you think you can throw this snide comment in and think it's OK. Reeks of elitism and condescension, as well as dehumanizing others.

Get back to the topic. I think I've made a good case about his progression. Your stats showed nothing but a lack of progress. That last gaffe from tyreke showed a lot.

You taking potshots at others from a perch of moderator shows a lot too.

Edit: Looks like you edited your post ninja style; for all those out there, your mod decided to call people that don't agree with him livestock "for the rest of us"

And why is that? Because you don't agree with their assessment?

you're really gonna use that as the reasoning behind Billups being traded?

He played 6 seasons in Detroit, winning a chip and after the team began to disintegrate, they started shipping everybody out.

They traded him from Denver to become younger and got Felton.

New York amnestied him to free up space to sign Chandler.

He played for four teams in his first five years before arriving in Det. Probably the period he's referring to.

You are aware that the Pistons were his fifth team, right?

Yep, you would expect a mod to follow the rules.

Enough.

At this point, I'm going to step in and close the stupid thread. The testosterone level is suffocating.
