Grant said if you have any questions for him send them in. Just turned on the radio, didn't catch the time he would be on.

5 PM. "John, will you continue to be a ball dominant, malcontent who refuses to move without the ball and thinks his game is on par with the Kobe's and Lebron's of the league? Thank you for taking my question"

I'd ask him if he's aware of the difference between now and the last time he was on the Kings, and how he needs to adjust his game in order to fit into that new difference.

I sent a tweet to Grant asking something along those lines, too. I asked if he sees himself being an all-around glue guy ala Shawn Marion in Dallas now that he's the older vet this go-round in Sac. Key words in my tweet were "off the ball," hehe. Hoping against all hopes it gets answered.

Ya, it will be an injustice if Grant doesn't ask him how he plans to adapt his game to being just a role player around our young guys. Hopefully I can hear this online tomorrow, curious as to how John will answer the various questions.

By injustice, you mean business as usual for the Grant Napear Show. Having a Kings player on his show is like throwing a Republican on the O'Reilly Factor. The questions will be the equivalent of throwing an assortment of Care Bears at the guest.

Doesn't matter if he just finished trashing the guy the day before, i.e., Bobby J or Webber. As soon as he's face to face or actually having to answer to the guy, he spews things like "Oh gee, so...why are you so great?"

I just do not like this guy. I dislike the way he speaks in interviews about as much as I dislike the way he plays. He's been on 4 teams (5 if you include us again) in 7 years. Not sure why he's so "shocked" that he is on the move again. So far no hard hitting questions by Grant, what a shocker. Him discussing team ball and how you have to share the ball is classic. Really inspired by his ho-hum attitude when talking about being a mentor to the young guys. Although, that might not be a bad thing.

I'm about as excited about him joining the team as he sounds about joining the team. And yes, I hate when players thank god for winning(like god was rooting against the other team), or use god as the reason for whatever had happened. Yes, I'm sure whatever god Salmons prays to is involved in NBA player transactions.

Been waiting for someone to reference that.
Why? Its known that Salmons is a very religious guy. So I don't think the god reference is surprising. I remember when he first signed with the Kings, he said that he had the feeling that god wanted him to sign with the Kings rather than, Toronto I believe.. Relying on memory there, which is always scarey.

Also not sure why anyong expected hard hitting questions from Grant. I doubt any host would ask hard hitting questions of a player just traded to their team. What did anyone expect. For Grant to ask him if he wasn't going to over dribble the ball.

Yes, now God is responsible for bringing that guy to Sac twice.
Never expected Grant to ask those questions, just found it typical. He didn't have to trash him, but he could have broached some of the worries that people have.

haha John sounds so unhappy.

unfortunately I only caught the end of it. Did he say anything interesting?
Nothing earthshattering. Typical interview. Salmons said all the right things for the most part. He didn't sound particularly happy, but its always hard to tell with him since he's a laid back kind of guy. He's probably not too happy though. Most players aren't. Its a pain in the butt to pick up and move all the way across the country. Especially when you've just moved to where you at.

I'm not a big fan of Salmons game. But I don't have any personal dislike of him. From all accounts neither do his teammates. Contrary to what some might think, I've never read one report anywhere that quotes a teammate saying anything about Salmons being a cancer in the lockerroom. Most of that comes from fans that are trying to read his body language when he's on the bench. He's just not a rah rah type of guy. Donte Greene is! Doesn't help his game much though, does it?

He was a little drab and super slow spoken.. good thing Grant asked good questions and kept things moving. He pretty much answered everything with the obvious professional jargon though... Don't know how genuine it was, but get the feeling he's been around the block enough now he knows whats expected of him. Says he still has a house here but someone is living in it. I don't think I've ever heard a guy say "I mean" as much as in that interview.. had to be a 100x in a 10mins of talking.

Well, storming out of the lockeroom when one is relegated to bench duty does not exactly scream "team guy".

God references in sports blow.
It is pretty cringy listening to the references. Our Isaiah Thomas does it alot too, I've noticed. I think he's going to be a fan favourite if he makes the team, but that's a thought for a different thread.

Will this interview be put up online anywhere?

John is kind of east coast Philly laid back if there's such a thing. He's quietly religious, a quiet family man, just basically quiet all around. Very unassuming professional. The fact that he's now willing as a veteran and oldest member of the Kings (at 31) to play a mentoring and leadership role is admirable. But like he said, it's just part of the job in NBA for him at this point and he wants to do it. As far as the storming out incident, that was only time I recall him ever having a bit of a locker room fit or any noteworthly incident at all. Let's not blow it out of proportion. It was incredibly minor as he just left in a huff and went down the corridore with Ron Artest going out to round him up. Ron the peacemaker calmed John down and minutes later it was all over. I'm willing to let John be John as long as ball movement is understood and he brings the lock down D which is his calling card. He's Kings starting SF (no Ron Artest in the way this time!) and Casspi, Greene, and Garcia can fight over the crumbs. Welcome back Johnny! GO KINGS!

That's what I was refering too. He had a contract with Toronto and it was denied by the league for some reason i can't remember. He then changed his mind about signing with Toronto because he had a sign that told him to go to Sacramento.

God references in sports blow.
Does it matter so much that you need to bring it up in a sports forum where you could possibly start a **** storm?
I'm just not seeing the chemistry with Salmons at SF.... I'm not one of those guys who think we are a worse team with him at SF...but I'm not sure were a whole lot better.

That they do. I have no problem with anyone being religious, or using religion for personal strength, but there's a difference between being religious, and being delusional. I would hedge that the reason Salmons was traded, is because one team wanted him, one didn't, his salary situation contributed, and the teams made a deal. Not because god thought it would be better/worse for his career. Nor do I think if he ever wins a ring, will it be because god loves him more than the guys on the other 29 rosters around the league. I also don't see why someone who seems to have the holy spirit by his side is doomy and gloomy all the time. Cheer up buddy!

There are a lot of questions about how he'll fit style-wise, but only time will tell.
